Battlefield 4 Platoons made available to all players

Ten-hut! DICE has introduced their clan/guild-based system Platoons for all soldiers busy soldiering in Battlefield 4. Now you can all huddle under a single banner and emblem in groups capped at 100.

The overall rank of the Platoon is dependent on the individual accomplishments of its members. A new Platoons section has open on the official forums for like-minded chums.

Monsters "definitely a possibility" in future Titanfall updates

The sci-fi world of Titanfall is due three major DLCs at least, with other content freely given in between, but will any of it explore the game's more monsterous side? The shooter already features alien life.

The inclusion of hostile wildlife is "definitely a possibility" as Respawn look to add more maps, some of which have been leaked. There are no new Titans on the way, yet.

Dastardly cheaters are already plying their brand of grief in Titanfall and developer Respawn Entertainment is busy "logging them" to meet the swift justice of the banhammer. This is largely on PC for now.

Eventually the Xbox One version will become a playground for rogues, but right now it's the PC that takes the brunt of the exploits and cheats. Australian servers up this Friday.

Alpha Gun announced for Oculus Rift, provides "independent tracking" for FPS

Oculus Rift lets us 'look around' virtual worlds but when it comes to controls things aren't quite mapped out yet. Alpha Gun is looking to provide a peripheral with "independent tracking" for first-person shooters.

Look left but point the gun right and Alpha Gun will let you blind fire, for example. A small video has released showing a 3D printed pre-alpha scripted prototype in action.

EA "haven't seen any damage" to Battlefield brand, "working very well"

All that huff and puff over the Battlefield 4 launch? Not a dent in the Battlefield brand, says EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen. They've not seen any lasting 'damage' from the troublesome launch.

He pointed to the "complexity" of Battlefield 4 that tripped it up, and players had been "very responsive" to fixes released. Additional content is "working very well" for retention.

Tom Clancy's The Division and The Crew still scheduled for 2014

A release schedule from Ubisoft still has the ambitious Tom Clancy's The Division down for a 2014 release, with racer The Crew also pegged for the second half of the calendar year. No specific dates are available.

Recently some fresh images of The Division were released teasing an abandoned bridge, snowy street and more. Ubisoft has also dated Watch Dogs for a simultaneous May 27th release.

New teaser for Enemy Front, focuses on Warsaw Uprising of 1944

American war correspondent Robert Hawkins is in the thick of it as this new Enemy Front trailer teases. The Warsaw Uprising of 1944 involved the "largest military resistance" during World War II.

In Enemy Front we choose our preferred method of kicking the Nazi's to defeat; all-out, sniping or stealth and sabotage. We align with resistance fighters as we battle across Europe.

EA and Respawn Entertainment has just unleashed the gameplay launch trailer for Titanfall which releases next week for PC and Xbox One, and on Xbox 360 later in March. We see some of the new maps.

Earlier leaks revealed a total of 15 maps for Titanfall, as well as feature pieces like anti-Titan turrets and ziplines for pilots. We can also 'regenerate' our pilots for 110% XP rates.

Battlefield 4 continues to suffer from multiplayer hiccups which are attributed to the so-called 'netcode' issues, which involve faulty latency compensation and glitches. These, understandably, are annoying.

DICE has affirmed they're "committed to improving" the situation, especially with things related to 'netcode'. The studio has posted a new blog explaining what their plan of attack is.

The Naval Strike expansion for Battlefield 4 out late this month is DICE Stockholm's last work on DLC, as the remaining two add-ons are going to be developed by their new DICE LA studio in sunny California.

The Los Angeles DICE studio is made up of former Danger Close staff, which created Medal of Honor. DICE LA helped out with Second Assault which launched late last month.

Duke Nukem creator Apogee/3D Realms "acquired" by Interceptor Entertainment

Danish studio Interceptor Entertainment, who was working with 3D Realms on a new Duke Nukem, has now acquired the Apogee/3D Realms business. The plan is to allegedly use 3D Realms as a brand.

This comes amid legal trouble as Gearbox Software stop development of the newly revealed top-down RPG Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, claiming they have no rights.

Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall is almost here and a glut of new information has been released through fresh leaks. There are 15 maps in total and detailed overviews of each reveal their points of interest.

Reliable sources also confirm the presence of anti-Titan turrets strewn throughout certain maps as well as ziplines for pilots, and a 'regeneration' system that resets you to level one.

Rebellion has announced their Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 1 & 2 has now passed over half a million sales, and are celebrating the good news for the spin off series with a 75% off discount bundle.

It has proven successful enough that the studio now has console versions in development, which isn't just a "re-package of the first two games" as it has new content.

Payday 2 and Brothers reap profits for Starbreeze, "what they call a turnaround"

Swedish developer Starbreeze had accumulatively lost around £8.66m from 1998 to June 2013, but within just two quarters their generated profit before tax reached £9.59m. Starbreeze is back in the black.

What's to thank for this? Starbreeze boss Bo Andersson points to "new business model, reorganisation" and establishing their own IPs: Payday and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

Titanfall beta drew 2 million gamers, "was really about giving people confidence"

Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall beta enjoyed a very healthy 2 million people before it ended February 19th, with community manager Abbie Heppe describing the experience as 'addictive' for the studio.

The beta began February 14th as Respawn wanted to stress-test, and so opened it to all players February 16th. They can't guarantee a flawless launch, but did 'boost confidence'.

3D Realms and Danish studio Interceptor Entertainment is busy with Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, but Gearbox Software has taken exception to this because they bought rights in February 2010 to the IP.

The Borderlands creator says they have "very limited exceptions" when it comes to the IP, and that this new game is in breach of their agreement, which saw 3DR rescued.

As of now there are two free Weapon Shortcut Kits you can acquire for Battlefield 4 across all platforms. For a limited time the Hand Guns Shortcut Kit and DMR Shortcut Kit come at no charge.

There'll be two more February 25th with the Grenades Shortcut Kit, and Shotguns Shortcut Kit for Premium users. These are part of 'Player Appreciation Month'.

Wolfenstein: The New Order pre-orders include "DOOM beta" keys

Bethesda is including beta keys to the next big DOOM instalment as part of the pre-order campaign for Wolfenstein: The New Order. An insert will be included with the game containing the beta key.

This key is redeemed and then you're registered to take part in the beta once it begins, which won't be "until a later, yet-to-be announced date." A new Wolfenstein trailer is out.

Sniper Elite 3's X-Ray Killcam in new developer diary

Prepare to cringe as you witness the bone and organ violator that is the X-Ray Killcam from Sniper Elite 3, in this developer diary from Rebellion. The studio has greatly improved the Killcam, with extra bits on display.

It's not for the faint of heart, and you might just start feeling sorry for the poor flesh bag in your reticule. Rebellion aren't shying away from the bone snapping or meat explosions.

Battlefield 4: Naval Assault includes 'Carrier Assault', a re-imagined Titan mode

Battlefield 2142 had a Titan mode which featured a hovering air-carrier that had to be brought down, or defended. Now DICE are bringing it back as the re-imagined Carrier Assault in the upcoming Naval Assault DLC.

The studio is yet to go into detail about how you'll sink the carrier, but Titan mode involved holding key missile launchers that bombarded the air-carrier. Naval Strike is due in late March.
