Codemasters reveals Race Driver: GRID multiplayer details

Codemasters today announced that the Race Driver: GRID multiplayer content will feature 32 online race events on 80 circuits at 15 intercontinental locations.

Featuring up to 12-player events with incredible full car damage, Race Driver: GRID's online multiplayer races will see gamers competing in aggressive races on iconic city streets and famous championship circuits across Europe, the U.S. and Japan.

From its humble PlayStation origins Sony have confirmed the "'alternative' racing game" has sped past the 50 million mark over multiple PlayStation platforms.

Gran Turismo was released in May 1998 for PlayStation, seems a lifetime away.

They're well chuffed with themselves, the license gives them full access to race circuits, the teams and their drivers’ likenesses.

Formula One games have had a two year absence and now they'll be "the jewel in Codemasters’ racing crown" says CEO Rod Cousens.

Race Drive: Grid demo hits Xbox Live Marketplace, PC demo delayed

Codemasters announced today that its released a playable demo for the Xbox 360 version of Race Drive: Grid onto the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The demo will contain 3 events which consists of The eBay Motors Muscle Cup which allows you to take the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT-R, whilst the advanced International Trophy lets you drive a Nissan S15 Silvia, and lastly the Euro Turing Car Series gives you a BMW 320si touring car.

Paul Hollywood, creative director at Evolution, has said at Sony's PlayStation Day event that a demo for upcoming MotorStorm Pacific Rift is planned.

He also said the game will "be locked at 30 frames-per-second in 720p", something the pre-alpha demo version lacked at the event.

Sony has revealed a list of all the games that will be showcased at its PlayStation Gamers Day which is currently taking place in London.

Games such as Mirror's Edge, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 are on show, whilst the list also includes Motorstorm 2 which now appears to be called MotorStorm Pacific Rift.

Game director Nigel Kershaw has confirmed the racer will have twice the number of tracks than the original and they'll be "more interactive" too.

He's also chuffed that MotorStorm 2 is going to have a real "strong presence" on Home, and he says it'll "start binding the PS3 online community together."

We've published 7 new screenshots for Race Driver Grid, which is in development by Codemasters and is currently set for release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Microsoft announced today that European sales for the Xbox 360 have more than doubled due to the recent adjustment of the retail price, “significantly broadening the console's audience” it says.

Disney Interactive Studios has confirmed that its off-road racing title Pure will be available at retail stores on September 26th, 2008.

This release date only applies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, the PC version has been left in the dark with no release date set.

Gran Turismo on PC?

Not the biggest fan of Gran Turismo (I like unrealistic driving games, where you get to blow stuff up or at least pull off drifts that would most certainly flip vehicles), but could it be coming to the PC? Do my ears deceive me?

Pointed out by derStandard, Austrian games website, and translated slightly by the guys at VE3D.IGN, that just may be the case.

Pseudo Interactive, the developers for the car combat series Full Auto, published by Sega and released on the Xbox 360 and PS3, have been shut down.

Pseudo were working on an unannounced project for Sci and Eidos, but both companies decided to scrap the project that Pseudo was working on. This eventually lead to its downfall, but it did try to continue by making several staff members redundant, but it didn't set a new deal with another publisher in time to survive.

A Polish magazine has blown the whistle on some juicy facts including some in-game screens. Gamers will be racing through more perilous tracks with the new tropical setting, mountains, jungle and even volcanoes get a look-in.

You can make your own character and splash your own styling’s on your drive, improved smack-ups and cams are on the table too.
