Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements review

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (PC) arrived with mixed reviews from critics and players alike. Brought to us by French developer Arkane Studios, and based on the solid, if aging, Source Engine. Well, the game has been ported to the 360, and in the process received some extra levels for the single-player mode, a tune-up for the multiplayer mode, bug fixes and some console port downgrades (inherent to the PC-to-console switch - we all know the intrinsic inferiority of the console vs the PC. Muahahah). We did not review the PC version, however Emmanuel Brown played the game for the 360 and shares his thoughts on the experience.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 review

The Medal of Honor series just doesn't want to end. The somewhat over-crowded World War II shooter genre has just about seen it all, with ubiquitous competent titles. Most of the games in the Medal of Honor series are included in these competent titles, spanning all platforms. The series had it's first entry in 1999, so nearly ten years is plenty of time for refinement. Enter Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, played by Mike Jennings, does this game add another notch of success to the series? The platform is somewhat limited, does that prove too much of a burden? The author shares his opinion.

Resistance 2 confirmed by Insomniac Games for autumn '08 release
Posted: 22.02.2008 08:30 by Jamie Davey Comments: 5
Resistance 2 is the sequel to PlayStation 3's exclusive launch title Resistance: Fall of Man, released back in March 2007.

With an autumn date slated for this PS3 only title, gamers would see it hit retailers around the same time as Xbox360 exclusive Gears of War 2. Is this coincidence or a diabolical scheme of marketing by Sony to try and dent Microsoft’s own alien shooter?

Update: It seems that Insomniac, not without a sense of humor, posted the date July 8th in their recent video for employment at the software company. Perhaps a hint to the actual release date, since they were "trying" to cover it up, but obviously did a poor job.

Colonial Marines to kick Alien rear by Fall '08 according to SEGA

Gearbox Software is hard at work to bring Aliens: Colonial Marines, a first-person shooter based on the cult films, to the PC and next-gen consoles. They claim to keep that claustrophobic look and feel of the landmark franchise while "leveraging next-generation technology".

Other than the singleplayer story, the game will also support co-op play letting up to four players go through the experience together with each marine playing an important role. Semper Fi marine, Semper Fi.

GDC: Quake Live announced to be free, IGA signs ad revenue deal

Quake Live is a browser based reiteration of the classic multiplayer shooter from id Software. This version will be supported by IGA so in exchange for adverts avid Quake fans get to blast each other’s pixel-innards for the glory of stats tracking, matchmaking, sponsored events, tournaments and of course the trade of tasteful boasting between chums.

There was a Lost Planet demo released on the North American PlayStation Network not long ago which was removed due to some problems, but this was quickly fixed and placed back onto the Network within a week. European gamers haven't had a chance to try out Lost Planet on the PS3, but this is about to change as Capcom plan on releasing the demo this Thursday.
