Force Unleashed sells 1.5 million copies worldwide

LucasArts announced this morning that The Force Unleashed, its latest Star Wars game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first five days of being released.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including videogames,"
said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "We're blown away by the response to the game."

Mass Production of new 45nm Cell Processor for PS3 to Start 2009

Reports out of Japan indicate that Sony and Toshiba will begin production on the new 45nm Cell processor chip in 2009. This is a delay from the previously announced schedule of Fall 2008. The 45nm Cell chip is designed to replace the 65nm Cell used in the Sony PlayStation 3. Engadget reports that the chip not only costs less to produce but will also require 40% less power to operate. This may allow Sony to drop the price on their PlayStation 3 console.

Rumour-mill: Sonic Genesis collection in development for PS3 and Xbox 360

Sega has released many Mega Drive compilation collections for previous consoles in the market, and now it appears that they could be developing a special Sonic Genesis collection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This hasn't been officially confirmed by Sega, but two retail listings would suggest that a Sonic Genesis Collection is planned, at least for a North American release.

Little Big Planet won't Include Online Co-Op Creation Mode Until Patched

The exclusive Playstation 3 title, Little Big Planet will be adding online cooperative level building in the first major update after the games release. A developer posted on the official Sony forums that while the retail release will allow co-op level building in offline mode right out of the box, the ability to cooperatively create levels online will be added later.

L.A. Noire May Be Multi-Platform

A tantalizing rumor attributed to Tom Crago, CEO of Tantalus and the current President of the Game Developers Association of Australia says that L.A. Noire may no longer be a PlayStation 3 exclusive title. The rumor says that the game may be released on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 and that it is probably a year away from release.

Heavy Rain Trailer Part of Bonus Scene

Videogaming247.com is reporting that the CEO of Quantic Dreams, David Cage, has confirmed that the footage shown at E3 08 and at the Leipzig Games Convention of the upcoming PlayStation 3 thriller Heavy Rain will be included as a bonus scene. Speaking of the trailer Cage said, "It’s really a bonus scene. It’s not part of the main plot."
