Capcom license Unreal Engine 3 for a second project in Europe

This is their second western-developed project; the first is being handled in North America and being kept under wraps.

Capcom's Keiji Inafune says that "the general versatility of Unreal Engine 3 will fully meet the requirements particular to this project". Such an unfair tease.

Many rumours recently sparked up when Blizzard launched a new splash page on its official website, now VP of design, Rob Pardo, has confirmed that there will be a big announcement at Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational in Paris, and that it could be about a new title.

British newspaper The Daily Mail has taken another swipe at video games, reporting that Welsh Trading Standards is upset with online traders who it claims are illegally selling violent titles to minors.

Earlier this month, Epic Games teased Xbox 360 owners with some screenshots of the upcoming port of Unreal Tournament III. They failed to summon any interest. It's extremely unusual for such an event to occur. If we take Epic's track record, (let alone the success of the Unreal Tournament series), their games have been at the forefront of Shooter fans' minds since 1999. Zavvi, a major entertainment media retailer spread across the UK and Ireland has announced its first ever sale. Zavvi CEO Simon Douglas claims that they have "created the best ever sale that entertainment retail has ever seen." Furthermore he added that Zavvi will be offering sale prices not only on their warehouse clearance items but also that they will be offering hundreds of discounts across their entire catalogue of entertainment media. Douglas pointed out "there’s a huge range of real gems in the sale stock"

2K Boston's Chris Kline says that "BioShock should've failed"

During the GDC event in Paris the lead programmer said that for all the many setbacks to the project, BioShock should never have managed the success it achieved.

Kline admits that the projects "very first failure was that we wanted to base this whole thing on System Shock 2." Labelling it an action shooter changed everything.

Call of Duty 3 was no filler piece say Treyarch, just 8 months work

Two of Treyarch's dev team have said while they "don't think it was a filler title," they do feel they may have tried to "put too much in the game" for their short dev cycle.

Activision have a rotation schedule in place so that a new Call of Duty can ship each year with the torch passing between Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

EA is currently developing five titles in the Battlefield franchise

Ben Cousens, executive producer at EA's DICE studio, today confirmed at GDC Paris that the team is currently working on five titles in the Battlefield franchise.

We know that EA are currently working on Battlefield Heroes, its first free-to-play title, and that Battlefield: Bad Company is being released on Friday. This puts names to two of the three in development, but what about the other ones?
