Dungeon Defenders has pulled in 1M sales across all platforms since launch

Trendy Entertainments odd action-RPG / tower defense hybrid Dungeon Defenders has enjoyed over 1M downloads since it launched in October on PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, according to publisher Reverb.

Reverb CEO Doug Kennedy stated in an interview, "It is a tremendously successful franchise. We have lots of plans to support it both with DLC and additional add-ons for the franchise."

Spark Unlimited opened eyes on the final day of 2011 when the developer posted on their official site "We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release,". This led to speculation that the developer was working on Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for LucasArts.

When asked by the media if this were the case, the developer answered each inquiry with a brief but curious remark, "You'll have ask Lucas Arts about its franchises, we're just a developer, not publisher."

PC exclusive Arma 3 has been quietly delayed by developer Bohemia Interactive as no reason was given why the military simulator has slipped from summer to the autumn/winter months.

Arma 3 is an "open-ended & story-driven" instalment and it takes advantage of PhysX "supporting vehicle simulation," and a revamped animation system. Set on a Mediterranean island.

The fifth consecutive Summer of Sonic will be held this year in London, July 7th. The exact location for the event has yet to be announced. It's for fans to enjoy all things Sonic.

BioWare's Chris Priestly has responded to fans upset and petitioning for more N7 Collector's Edition for Mass Effect 3 as retailers are running out. The studio reveals no more will be made in time.

The physical items included in the CE "cannot be made in time for launch." Priestly adds it's why he "started warning people" back in November to make sure they pre-order.

Suitors set Friday deadline for GAME's overseas assets

GAME Group has issued a deadline this Friday for potential suitors to register their interest in buying the retailer's overseas business. Reportedly they want to sell off as much as they can.

GAME operates over 650 stores outside of the UK across France, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. They have 610 stores on British soil. It's part of their "strategic review".

A leaked list of movesets for Street Fighter x Tekken has confirmed the appearance of M. Bison, Akuma, Jin, and Ogre in the brawler's roster of fighters. Suspicions have graduated to fact.

Capcom had already been giving hints but it's nice to have confirmation isn't it? The original leak was taken down. Street Fighter x Tekken releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Metal Gear Solid HD dominate UK chart

Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 launched as the UK number one last week, following closely by Konami's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. FIFA 12 has been knocked down 4th.

Battlefield 3 pulled a flanking manoeuvre to get 3rd, and Namco's Soul Calibur V entered 5th. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 slinks down 7th, and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 8th.

DICE will be releasing a new patch today, the 6th February, for the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 3, followed by the PC and Xbox 360 versions in the next couple of weeks.

The haste for the PS3 version is that the patch will fix the severe VOIP issue on that platform, which has been a constant complaint for users.

Atari has announced that it will be publishing Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends, which was initially announced by BigBen Interactive last November. The publisher confirmed that the game is being worked on by Need for Speed: Shift developer Slightly Mad Studios. The game will also be distributed by both BigBen Interactive and Rombax Games, with Ferrari license owner Avalance involved in development as well.

Viacom blames Harmonix suit for last quarter fiscal losses

Viacom has reported that the company's revenue over the last financial quarter dropped 65% compared to the previous year's revenue. The report blames the lawsuit settlement with Harmonix for a large part of the drop.

The company earned $212M in revenue for the quarter ending the 31st December 2011. In 2010 over the same period of time, the company earned $610M.

Sega suffers 6.6% decline in revenue from year-to-year

Sega has revealed in its nine month financial report that the company suffered a 6.6% loss in its April-December 2011 period compared to its April-December 2010 earnings. The figures might have been worse if not for the company's investment in coin-op arcade pachinko machines.

However, the business made an overall profit of ¥34.4 billion (£284.7m) for the period, with sales of ¥311.7 billion (£2.58bn), a year-to-year increase of 0.5%.

Konami sees 77% jump in profits in last 9 months

Konami has reported that it's seen a jump of 77.3% year-to-year increase in profits from a 9 month period, thanks to its involvement in digital publishing and social networking games.

The Japanese publisher reported its net income for the April-December 2011 period was ¥17.05 billion ($224 million), with sales of ¥194.5 billion ($2.55 billion).

US State Representative wants 1% tax on "violent videogames"

Oklahoma state representative Will Fourkiller has proposed a state bill, HB 2696, which would charge a 1% tax on all games sold in the state rated Teen, Mature, and Adults-Only, with the money going towards the state's obesity and bullying prevention funds.

A Game of Thrones the roleplaying game will be released by Atlus and Focus Home Interactive on the 15th May. The game, which is being developed by Cyanide, will be released a month after the second season of the hit television series.
