Sega has confirmed that both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Golden Axe: Beast Rider will be released in Europe on October 17th, 2008.

The Guardian has been running a five part interview with Peter Moore, with all parts being published last week. Now Moore has left a final message to the readers at the Guardian gaming blog which talks about how brilliant Microsoft is.

"I guess you have to work there to truly appreciate what a unique and special company Bill and Steve have built, and I think gamers need to fully appreciate the positive impact that the Xbox consoles, and in particular Xbox Live, have had on our industry. I worked with a team of people so special and so near and dear to my heart, that not a day goes by where I don't miss them in some way." said Moore.

Mass Effect on the Silver Screen?

According to a report on The Cut Scene, the movie rights for Mass Effect have been purchased by producer Avi Arad. Arad is best known for his work on such Marvel movies as Iron Man, and the X-Men and Spiderman franchises. He is currently running his own production company and is reported to be at work on a movie adaptation of Lost Planet.

Mass Effect was developed by Bioware and published by Electronic Arts, who own the property. Neither EA nor Arad has commented on the sale of the movie rights for Mass Effect.

Codemasters confirms DLC for Race Driver: Grid

Codemasters today announced the forthcoming release of the first downloadable content pack for Race Driver: GRID with the reveal of the '8 Ball' pack coming this autumn for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The premium 8 Ball pack is set to feature eight thrilling new cars to race and two new online events to compete in. Each vehicle is beautifully realised and was carefully selected as a thoroughbred racing car with a unique personality to deliver a stunning race experience.

The Guardian Interview with Peter Moore has been published with Part 4 talking about Moore's projections for the videogame business. Talking about the change from consumers heading to retail shops to buy games, Moore believes that this business model will not exist in five to ten years, because consumers will purchase games online due to bigger hard drives and faster broadband connections.

Microsoft Defends Rare as Xbox Developer

The head of Microsoft Game Studios, Phil Spencer, defended Rare as a valuable and important part of Microsoft's future strategy for the Xbox gaming platform in a statement made to GameIndustry.biz. He was responding to comments published by The Guardian made by Peter Moore, former head of Xbox and current President of EA Sports. Spencer said "Rare plays a strategic role in delivering games and platform experiences that will help the Xbox achieve our long-term strategy of expanding the customer base to a mainstream audience".

Former Deus Ex Designer Working on New Immersive Shooter

During a keynote speech at the Austin Game Developers Conference covered by Gamasutra, Harvey Smith, former Game Designer for Ion Storm and now with Arkane Austin, said that his studio was working on a new and immersive first person shooter title. Smith is known for his work on Deus Ex: Invisible War and for working on such titles as Thief: Deadly Shadows.
