Arkane Studios bought by ZeniMax, "extremely pleased" to join up

Bethesda parent group ZeniMax Media has acquired Arkane Studios, with the developer over the moon to "join the family", which includes id.

Pete Hines made the announcement at Quakecon and also said Arkane and Bethesda have partnered up on a project, but didn't spill beans.

Irrational Games has announced BioShock: Infinite, starring the flying city of Columbia. It'll have plasimids and their own Big Daddy versions?

A debut trailer is out but the game won't be for sometime as it's due 2012. That brings Infinite to 5 years in the making. We need to rescue a girl.

Kalpyso Media reveals Dungeons, it's good to be bad

Kalpyso Media has revealed Dungeons, a new strategy/simulation game in development for the PC. Players are taken to the depths of the underworld where they must take control of a Dungeon Lord whose job is to command deadly creatures that guard the dungeons you've created from heroes that want to steal your treasure.

Dungeons is currently in development by Realmforge and should be released sometime in Q1 2010.

Lionhead talk Fable 3 inspirations

Among the 'springs of inspiration' for Lionhead Studios' Fable III are titles like PS3 exclusive Uncharted for its blend of gameplay and cinema.

Demon's Souls and Mass Effect 2 were "both great" too and they believe they know why and how decisions were made. Don't forget Peggle!

People Can Fly's Bulletstorm teased for gamescom appearance

Producer Tanya Jessen of studio People Can Fly has said a big "Bulletstorm sized" event will be at gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Holding onto our hats will prove useless apparently, as our heads are set to 'explode' from the goodness. Epic's Gears of War 3 won't be there.

Carmack: New IP from id Software is unlikely "in the next decade"

Studio id Software will be supporting the current stable of franchises for the foreseeable future, which is already more "than we can exploit."

John Carmack doesn't want 5 teams at id as 3 "is scary enough." They've got Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein and "hopefully we can add Rage onto that".

Global Agenda UK date stamped

Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play MMOFPS Global Agenda will be available in UK shops September 10th, with the Sandstorm add-on included.

Other European regions will get localized versions too, like Germany for October 29th. Global Agenda has been up digitally since February.

Firefly's Stronghold 3 on PC in early 2011, "incredible leap forward"

Publisher SouthPeak Interactive confirms studio Firefly is still putting Stronghold 3 together brick by brick, and that it'll be out early next year.

The team is "pushing the boundaries" of the series and it has an "exceptionally broad appeal." Recent fiscal troubles are not an issue.

John Carmack of id Software reveals its "full steam ahead" on Doom 4 by the team, and that it should beat Rage for time in shipping out the door.

He's "not really at liberty" to discuss the finer points of the Doom team yet. Rage releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year. What about Doom?

Bushnell laments selling off Atari, "didn't understand Wall Street"

Atari founder Nolan Bushnell says he really wished he "hadn't sold" the company back when he did, blaming his short attention span.

Bushnell rejoined Atari's board in April this year after having been forced out in 1978. He sold Atari to Warner Bros for $28 million in 1976.

Molyneux wants 5m Fable III gamers

Lionhead Studios' big boss Peter Molyneux is aiming for 5m sales of Fable III on Xbox 360 alone when it retails in the shops this October 29th.

It'll be thanks to "less clutter" and "less aggravating" mechanics in the game that help push copies. Fable II has sold 3.5m, and Xbox's Fable 3m.

Doom and Quake creator John Carmack has said something "neat and unannounced" will be present during his keynote speech tonight.

He doesn't know if he should try to "sneak a little more" in before Quakecon kickstarts. Carmack's keynote begins at 8:30pm BST today.

Atari's Test Drive Unlimited 2 delays

Bad news race fans - Atari has confirmed that Eden Games' Test Drive Unlimited 2 will now retail in Q1 2011, instead of this late September.

That means the beta gets pushed back too with a new date in the coming weeks. Eden can "further advance the game" with this extra time.

Respected LA-based eye doctor claims 3D "not likely" to harm eyes

Sony and Nintendo will be glad to hear Dr. Mark Borchert, an L.A. ophthalmologist, doesn't believe any permanent damage comes from 3D.

People may "get uncomfortable" with 3D viewing, like nausea or headaches, but there's "no evidence" that it can leave behind lasting harm.

Seeing as how fans blew the surprise with their PC patch snooping, 2K and Gearbox have officially unveiled the suspected Borderlands DLC.

It's called Claptrap's New Robot Revolution and stars the cunning Ninja Assassin who's leading a "deadly Claptrap revolution" on Pandora.

UK's ELSPA unveils digital chart plan

Publishing trade body ELSPA in the UK has got major publishers pinky swearing to submit all their PC digital sales data to a centralised chart.

They've got another 3 major houses signing imminently. This deal is "specifically" to get a digital chart going for just PC and in the UK, initially.

A brand new Football Manager has been announced by studio Sports Interactive, and they've released a near 10 minute clip talking it up.

The team thought FM's training system had "been the best" until now, but they've improved it anyway. It's out for PC and Mac by this Christmas.

Developer Rocksteady Studios is grateful to Warner Bros for telling them to "go and embrace" all of Batman's history, not just movies.

It was "obviously very liberating" for the team, and they feel fans appreciated the "respect" they showed this "powerful, and vulnerable character".

Disney's Black Rock Studios want feedback from Split/Second fans to help shape future DLC, as they announce 4 packs are already coming.

The first 3 are vehicle-based and due the "next couple of weeks" while the 4th is a "major" DLC pack with a new environment due September.

LucasArts and Sony Online's free-to-play Star Wars MMO 'Clone Wars Adventures' retails September 15th, with an optional subscription.

Bought copies from select retailers will come with extra goodies, and its release on the 15th is followed by the next season of Clone Wars.
