Treyarch boss Mark Lamia says offering "great reasons" for players to keep their games, rather than trade-in, is better than one-time codes.

EA introduced the Online Pass to dissuade or at least make something from 2nd-hand game sales. Keep "fans engaged" and they'll stay.

PlayStation Move and Kinect are both getting pushed by Sony and Microsoft respectively, but Sony's Peter Dille admits they won't "outspend" Microsoft.

The Xbox 360 platform holder will reportedly spend over GBP 4.2 million on marketing Halo: Reach. Sony doesn't quite have that inclination to splurge.

BioShock 2 DLC "secretly" fixes hacking mini-game for colour-blind

2K Marin's latest DLC for BioShock 2, Protector's Trails or Minerva's Den, adds in stripes to the hacking mini-game to help colour-blind gamers.

A title update couldn't fix this because it doesn't hold content, "only code" believes a developer. It was a "technical constraint" but not for DLC.

NPD: Xbox 360 leads US sales roost

Once again the Xbox 360 has led in way of sales in the US, giving Microsoft a very cheery July and August according to the latest NPD figures.

Aaron Greenberg says the "tortoise keeps going," as it secured 356,700 sales. Nintendo Wii meanwhile had 'terrible sales time' with 244k.

BioWare fixing DLC "continuity bug"

The latest DLC release for Dragon Age: Origins is Witch Hunt but it's got some problems that BioWare is working to fix as soon as possible.

A "continuity bug" is flaring up issues for some users and they're also looking into a save game not getting created at the end of Witch Hunt.

EA: Medal of Honor will need over 3m sales to be worth another

Greg Goodrich is executive producer for EA's rebooting Medal of Honor and they need it to obtain at least 3m in sales otherwise they'll be no more.

Originally the game was subtitled Anaconda, and explored a failed operation but that was "too close to home," and would have given a "sour taste".

Walmart lists MAG 2 for PS3, alleges its sequel is out January 25th

Zipper Interactive developed PS3 exclusive MAG, the one with 256-players online shooting each other, and now they're on the upcoming SOCOM 4.

According to retailer Walmart the studio has been real busy with MAG 2, a full sequel no less, and that it's due very shortly; January next year in fact.

SouthPeak have announced Section 8: Prejudice but didn't mention on what platforms it world arrive although Xbox 360, PS3 and PC are likely.

A debut trailer for Prejudice has gone up lecturing us on evolution and war and how it never changes, hmm - that sound bite sounds familiar.

PC Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood 2011

Publisher Ubisoft has announced the delay of PC Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, meaning the console versions will go on sale November 19th.

The multiplayer beta program for Brotherhood begins October 8th for any who've pre-ordered the PS3 copy. 9 characters across 2 maps.

David Cage of Quantic Dreams says he's "absolutely happy" with making Heavy Rain a PS3 exclusive, adding it was "right" for their goals.

It had Blu-ray, was "promoting movies," and is generally more "sophisticated" than the others. Quantic might go multiplatform next time.

Gabe Newell reveals they've got "three pretty big surprises" coming over the next 12 months from Valve, noting average reaction is "negative, not positive".

They want to avoid a Left 4 Dead 2 sequel-level of reaction, where some fans cried wolf boycott. Valve must talk better to the sceptics out there.

Cage: Move won't play big role for PS3 "if it's only about casual"

Quantic Dream's David Cage says it's all about the software because the hardware "works really well" for PlayStation Move. It has to have core titles.

Sony plan on extending the PS3 lifecycle with Move by a number of years, but that's only possible if it can get "more support from triple-A" titles.

Sony celebrates PlayStation's 15th year

PlayStation Home is paying homage to the 15th anniversary of Sony's PlayStation, and they've put together a special commemorative video.

Any who watch it in Home's Theater will also get a special gift - an ornament of the PSOne, the little box that started it all those 15 years ago.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura has, almost out of nowhere, decided to clarify what 'multiplatform' and 'port' mean to videogames.

Nomura-san then comments that Versus XIII is "specifically for the PlayStation 3." That dampens hope for an Xbox 360 release somewhat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops "much more difficult" to balance says studio

Developer Treyarch has said Black Ops has been much trickier to balance than previous Call of Duty titles because of introducing COD points.

There's very powerful weapons as well, and then XP of course. Treyarch's 're-focusing' allows them "dedicated" single and multiplayer teams.

MyWorld purchased by US firm with ties to former RTW chariman

A report claims former chairman and chief strategy officer Ian Hetherington of Realtime Worlds, now in administration, is tied to the MyWorld buyer.

An anonymous US firm bought MyWorld from RTW insisting on confidentiality. Hetherington contributed toward the buy, possibly? It's due out in spring.

Square Enix push Mindjack into 2011

The 'jacking of minds' will need to wait until next year as Square Enix confirm that Feelplus' action adventure title will not be out in October 2010.

In the game we're a Mind Hacker and can control our foes' brains, and even bystanders. We get XP for skills and even some Krav Maga fighting.

Publisher Konami confirms Silent Hill 8, its working title, will be on Xbox 360 and PS3 next year. They've also spilled more info on its setting.

We'll play as a lone convict who survives a transport crash, using everyday things to fend off creepy horrors. A horror game that "fans truly deserve."

CBI praises UKIE arrival, "big player"

The Confederation of British Industry welcomes UKIE, formerly known as ELSPA, calling it perhaps the "biggest player" in the UK creative industry.

CBI see's the creative industry as "very important" to the UK economy, being 6-8 percent of it, and it's "growing much faster" than everything else.
