There's major 'refocusing' going on at publisher EA, with 17 percent of its total workforce made redundant, which is about 1,500 staffers.

Any project that "doesn't measure up" as a "high profit contributor" is being cut said CEO John Riccitiello. This will save $100m annually.

Some "can't even run" on mid-end PCs. Valve has talked with some modders, possibly even "working with them" after Left 4 Dead 2.

Publisher Capcom put it to the fans, and they asked how did they want the Alternative Edition delivered to them - retail disc, or DLC?

Downloadable content won with around 1500 votes, where physical disc picked up 900. It's coming to Xbox Live and PSN in spring 2010.

John Carmack, co-founder of id Software, has said the arrival of Project Natal and the PS3's motion controller won't have a great impact.

He's "very interested to see" what's included next generation. FPS is a "fairly evolved" genre already that won't benefit from motion tech.

UK's Daily Mail have published an article on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with Labour MP Keith Vaz quoted as being "absolutely shocked".

It's all that controversy in the Russian airport level, where players can opt to kill "unarmed civilians". Activison say it can be skipped.

Sainsbury's lead the price war for Infinity's latest shooter, Modern Warfare 2, offering customers a sale below half the games RRP.

Employees didn't know themselves, "it was secret" until today. From midnight tonight the game is on sale for just GBP 26 in the UK.

Microsoft has announced that the gradual rollout for Sky Player, which came after it was pulled, is now complete with it running everywhere.

At least everywhere in the UK. Apparently "tens of thousands" of new users are using the service each day says the corporate giant.

Major Nelson has confirmed that the social updates coming to Xbox Live won't be on offer to Gold subscribers "under the age of 18," for now.

They haven't implemented 'Family Settings' for these applications, which they hope to apply several weeks after launch. Until then, kids banned.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has hit out at developer Valve again, this time for "bashing" Sony's platform like fanboys do, it's "childish".

Recently Valve declared Xbox 360 "head and shoulders" above PS3. Orange Box neglected because Valve don't solely benefit from sales.

Following on from the Modern Warfare 2 trend, id Software co-founder and technical wiz John Carmack has confirmed that the developer doesn't plan to add dedicated server support for the multiplayer component of Rage.

"It's not cast in stone yet, but at this point no, we don’t think we will have dedicated servers," said Carmack, talking to Variety.

343 Industries, the internal division Microsoft created to look after the Halo franchise after Bungie went independent, is now looking to fill several staff positions.

Whilst nothing official has been announced, these latest hirings could indicate a new Halo title is on the way, which would also be the first created by this new studio...

First the prices go up, then the dedicated servers are dropped, and now this. Infinity War seems to be trying to push the boundaries of fan tolerance to their limits as they revealed yet another cutback for Modern Warfare 2.

The developer has announced that online games of Modern Warfare 2 will only support a maximum of 18 players, bringing it down to par with it's console counter part...

Ubisoft executive Alain Martinez has been talking about what we can expect to see from the Assassin's Creed series in 2010 during a conference call with investors.

Martinez said in reply to the subject; "There might be something around Assassin's Creed, and you mentioned that there will be a movie of Prince of Persia." There's the PC version of Assassin's Creed 2 in early 2010, but that's all we know about.
