New Quest Online president Derek Smart has revealed how co-founder Dave Allen was actually "fired" from his post "for insubordination".

Allen put the studio at risk says Smart, and that's only the "short and subtle version." MMO Alganon's winter launch "should never have happened."

Paul Bettner formerly of Ensemble Studios, those guys behind Age of Empires, spoke at the GDC and revealed its closure was their own doing.

Microsoft closed the developer after Halo Wars shipped. Every title took "twice as long" and cost "twice as much" with top talent 'burnt out'.

Codemasters' Gavin Cheshire has blabbed that DiRT 3 is under development and how it'll be throwing DiRT 2's ideas away to be innovative.

Boss Cheshire warns "if you don't innovate, you're dead." They're the "last bastion of British publishing" so we can expect DiRT 3 to "fly the flag".

Blizzard might allow third-parties to license its Battle.net platform

During a GDC Panel Rob Pardo, executive vice president of game design at Blizzard Entertainment, has revealed that Blizzard plans to license its Battle.net platform to third-parties, but only after taking care of itself first.

"It's something that we've definitely always talked about," said Pardo "The problem for us is that it takes a lot of work from our other teams."

Bethesda announces Hunted: The Demon's Forge for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

Bethesda today announced that it will publish Hunted: The Demon's Forge, a third-person co-op fantasy action game. Hunted is being developed at inXile Entertainment for PS3, Xbox 360 and Games for Windows.

"We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda Softworks on this upcoming release that takes us back to our roots," said Brian Fargo, Founder of inXile Entertainment. "Bethesda's track record speaks for itself and the game we are developing for them is no exception."

2K cites technical reasons for Bioshock 2 disc-based DLC

2K games has tried to explain why the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack premium DLC was already on the Bioshock 2 disc upon release:

"The way our engine and game structure works is that people need to have the exact same content for people to play together," a spokesperson said.

Red Dead Redemption coming to PC?

The latest issue of the Game Informer magazine has listed PC as a platform for Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption.

This is the first time a PC version has been mentioned, as the firm has only officially announced it for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This could be a mistake, so we've contacted Rockstar for comment.

Crytek UK registers new trademark: "Self Defense"

Infinity Ward's Rob Bowling has confirmed that the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus map pack will cost 1200 MS points (£10/$15) when it releases on March 30th.

Now If I'm not mistaken, you can buy entire games for that amount of money, even over Xbox Live. Bowling listed the specifics regarding the pack on the latest Major Nelson podcast...

Rumour-mill: Microsoft job ad reveals PC Fable III plans, now pulled

According to a job listing with Microsoft Game Studios, developer Lionhead Studios needs (or needed) a Network Programmer for Fable III.

Specifically their responsibilities were to provide cross-platform gameplay for Xbox 360 and PC Fable III. The listing has since been pulled.

Those rascals at Valve decided to throw up a GLaDOS blue screen of death error message, which conveniently hid a message in hex code.

Clever fans picked apart the code revealing the teasing message 'suspend until eee', which of course refers to E3 which takes place in June.

BioWare teases Star Wars The Old Republic "plans for end game"

Developer BioWare has plans all laid out for the 'end game' period for the upcoming Star Wars The Old Republic due out early next year.

They "can't be more specific" at the moment though - well actually they could "but we won't." Narrative will have you going for a "really long time".

Jones: APB would need "fair bit of redesign" before hitting console

David Jones of Realtime World's, developer of Crackdown, has said how a console APB version isn't something they could enter lightly.

Aside from Microsoft and Sony having their own strict server rules and quality control, the PC slated MMO would need to be redesigned.

BioWare heads Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have said how "confident" they are of DLC the studio is building, how it'll be "satisfying for players".

The studio has the "DLC team, and main team" on the go. More new content to come after looking at "responses from the fans"; see what they want.

Peter Molyneux has touched on Project Natal's involvement with Fable III, which is due out this year, claiming it's "wonderfully additive" to it.

The Lionhead Studios boss also revealed that Fawlty Towers and Monty Python star John Cleese will be playing the role of our dutiful butler.

Eidos Montreal has confirmed our suspicions that Deus Ex 3 is actually called Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It will also have no multiplayer.

Game director Jean-Francois Dugas said the wanted to stay true to the legacy, and so they focused "purely on the singleplayer". No date yet.

Future Publishing got the license to GamesMaster but was limited to magazine publication, but now that has all changed and TV talks begin.

Now Future owns the GamesMaster brand and have been chatting with TV networks. No videogames show "has come close" since it aired.

Lara Croft back this summer for $15, Guardian of Light goes arcade

Developer Crystal Dynamics will release 'Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light' this summer as a downloadable title for both XBLA and PSN.

She'll cost you $15 or 1200 MSP, and favours a Shadow Complex approach to raiding tombs. It lasts around 6 hours with co-op play.

LucasArts' The Secret of Monkey Island 2 HD remake this summer

The sequel to The Secret of Monkey Island will also be getting the revival voodoo magic, as LucasArts confirm LeChuck's Revenge is coming.

Much like the first's Special Edition, Monkey Island 2 will have all-new visuals, audio and voice-overs added. It's for XBLA, PSN, PC and iPhone.

GDC 2010: OnLive launches on PC June 17th, costs $14.95 a month

Steve Perlman has announced at GDC that OnLive will be officially launched for PC and MAC this June 17th, with monthly subs at $14.95.

It's only available for US residents and the micro-console hasn't been mentioned. Streamable game titles can be bought or rented.
