Take-Two has slapped Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto series on the back, touting how powerful it is without yearly releases.

This has cast big doubt over the next major GTA instalment retailing next year, now that Grand Theft Auto IV has 'ended' with its latest DLC.

The reimagining of Alien Breed for the 21st Century arrives this month, in over a week's time, on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points.

PS3 and PC gamers must wait until next year for their dose. Alien Breed is an old school, top-down shooter with online and offline co-op.

Amongst all the super exciting to read number crunching of Take-Two's fiscal for Q4 2009, comes news that Mafia II will hit "first half" 2010.

That means it's more or less on time, this time at least. Rockstar Games' Max Payne 3 however gets pushed to next fiscal's "fourth quarter".

BioWare's Chris Priestly has revealed there's just too much "awesome" to fit on one disc, so Mass Effect 2 is split across two discs for all.

Actually there's a third if you count the Collector's Edition. The disc swap is "carefully planned" and happens only once on Xbox 360.

THQ's "biggest studio" opens in Montreal, "favourable economics"

Thanks to "Quebec's many advantages" like huge financial incentives for videogame developers, THQ has setup shop in Montreal.

It's all those "refundable tax credits" that make Montreal an ideal spot for the industry. They start with 60 staffers, and will grow to 500.

EA's "world-class" Medal of Honor reboot due "Fall 2010", site is up

Publisher EA has slapped the new and modern 'Medal of Honor' with a release window, and launched a new site of teasing hotness for it.

This "re-set and re-boot" for the long-time series will be out late 2010, and star Tier 1 Operators. They go on missions "no one else can".

Console gamers have been able to enjoy the undead-infested DLC offering for Borderlands, but so to can PC owners, soon-ish.

Ubisoft has admitted that next year's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be prancing about platforms and like on PC, and not just consoles.

Previously they announced it was 2010 bound "for consoles and handhelds." This may hold true as the PC game might retail much, much later.

THQ and Frontlines: Fuel of War developer Kaos Studios are working on Homefront, a shooter set in an invaded America. Think Red Dawn.

Which is handy because John Milius, who wrote Red Dawn, is helping Kaos. It'll have "cliff-hangers" leading into DLC and Homefront 2.

John Riccitiello is boss of EA and right now he wants that FPS crown back from Activision, to rip it from their fancy pants Call of Duty series.

RPG Edge of Twilight from developer Fuzzeyes Studios is allegedly dead in the Steampunk water, say sources. Work stopped months ago.

The Australian outfit may also be shuttering for good. Edge of Twilight was due out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this year - not right now it's not.
