Dragon Age: Origins has downloadable content, but this latest piece from developer BioWare is having some trouble getting out the door.

First is was delayed because of a last minute issue found in certification, but now a title fix for Xbox 360's Dragon Age has led to it being pulled.

Ubisoft announced today that registration is now open for the beta test of the upcoming PC sequel The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom. The beta will start January 19th and will offer the tutorial missions of the single-player campaign as well as skirmish maps for multiplayer modes or games against the AI.

Ubisoft delays I Am Alive

Ubisoft has confirmed that its upcoming disaster-themed action-adventure game, I Am Alive, has been delayed into the next fiscal year, which runs April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.

Details on the title are very slim, but it has been confirmed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Ubisoft has confirmed that it's working on a new game in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series, along with a new Driver game.

Details are extremely slim, but it has also mentioned a new episode for Assassin's Creed, which will contain an online multiplayer mode. We don't know if this will be released as a new game or if it'll be DLC.

Ubisoft delays R.U.S.E and Splinter Cell: Conviction

Ubisoft revealed today that its stealth-action sequel Splinter Cell: Conviction and RTS R.U.S.E have both been delayed.

Splinter Cell: Conviction will now be released in April 2010, not February 26, for both Xbox 360 and PC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hits $1 billion mark in retail sales

Activision Blizzard announced today that Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues its reign of record breaking having hit the $1 billion mark in retails sales worldwide.

"Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded our expectations and shattered theatrical box office and video game records," said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. "There are only a handful of entertainment properties that have ever reached the $1 billion mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of this game."

Warner confirms around 25 devs "eliminated" from Seattle teams

Warner Bros Interactive are "retaining robust teams" in their Seattle-based studios, but had "few too many resources" so they had to cut some.

The losses spread across Monolith Productions, Snowblind Studios and Surreal Software. Mostly unannounced projects took the hit.

LucasArts confirms Star Wars The Old Republic is for "spring 2011"

EA's John Riccitiello mentioned that their "major MMO" will be due in spring 2011, which is the BioWare made Star Wars The Old Republic.

LucasArts has affirmed this to be true, that while they haven't "announced a specific date," sometime in spring 2011 is what they're "targeting".

Peter Molyneux declares 2010 to be a "landmark year for games"

Lionhead Studios boss Peter Molyneux has said even if the industry only managed half "of what's on the cards", it'll still be a "landmark year".

He's most looking forward to reaching "the end of 2010" as it's so chock full of awesome, the "biggest year ever" for all the industry so far.

Pachter fortells "another price cut" this year for Xbox 360 and PS3

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, the all knowing one, has scribed that Microsoft and Sony will lower prices "around summer".

Though Microsoft could be as early as "March or April," though they might favour a more "feature-packed" Xbox 360 SKU instead.

Update: Rebellion has now confirmed the news and issued the following statement:

"We are very excited about the expansion of our Oxford offices, the home of Aliens vs. Predator. Recruitment is ongoing both in Oxford and in Runcorn. However, growth is sometimes painful, never more so than in the current climate and we have had to take a long hard look at how we operate our studio network. Strategically we have decided to review the need for the Derby facilities, and consultation with staff at Derby is ongoing."

Metal Gear Solid movie derails, producer says agendas mismatched

Mike De Luca is, or was, producer for the Hollywood Metal Gear Solid flick. All that has stalled though because they couldn't match agendas.

It's such a big franchise that "a movie can only hurt" if screwed up, though even if great it probably won't "sell more games." Shame ,eh?

Realtime Worlds CV reveals "brand new IP due for release in 2011"

Crackdown and MMO APB developer Realtime Worlds has another game, which occupies a new IP, coming to us gamers sometime next year.

An artist's resume spilled the 2011 beans. Crackdown 2 certainly isn't it as that's out this year, and being handled by Ruffian Games.

Study shows a huge 85 percent don't buy DLC, sampled 800 gamers

Frank N. Magid Associates put together a survey and grilled 800 gamers about all that DLC, revealing only 15 percent had bought any.

41 percent were aware it was out there but haven't bothered with it, while 43 percent had no idea at all, likely own the Nintendo Wii or PS2.

Blizzard supposedly begins the 'Friends and Family Alpha' today for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, with an alleged DVD shot on the net.

James Cameron hopes to continue making games with Ubisoft

In an interview with X-Play, director James Cameron revealed that he's looking into getting more of his stories made into games, and hopes to continue his relationship with Ubisoft.

"I've got a lot of stories, and I don't have enough time to make them all as movies," he said.

EA lowers full-year expectations, "lacks introspection" says Pachter

Publisher EA won't be counting full-year revenue between $3.6-$3.9bn anymore, by their own admission. They'd be lucky to get $3.675bn.

They've lowered their guidance. Analyst Michael Pachter says it's because they didn't have what "people wanted" and it's their own fault.

Chart-Track: UK boxed sales down 18 percent in '09, PC down 6.2m

Horrible news for UK retailers as Chart-Track data shows new boxed products sold less by 18 percent than in 2008, with overall down 12 percent.

PS3 and Xbox 360 game sales were up though, by 14 and 9 percent respectively. None of the data collated includes digital game sales.
