The City of Heroes and the City of Villains are to become one as NCsoft unveil their future plans for the online superheroes. Subscription to one will now net both games.
One more step awaits -- announced later in the year -- which will complete the merging of Heroes and Villains. The team proclaims this as "an evolution of the IP". | |

Jack Tretton, president of SCEA, spoke of Squire Enix's decision to break Final Fantasy XIII's exclusivity on PS3 as a disappointment, but not entirely unexpected.
He went on to say that Sony isn't interested in incentives for third-party exclusives because so much is invested in the PS3 hardware for the company. | |

Since the untimely demise of HD-DVD many have felt it an open secret that Microsoft would, eventually, relent and ship their own Blu-ray player for Xbox360.
Forbes recently interviewed Microsoft's gaming VP of business Shane Kim who "can categorically say" that the company isn't working on any such player. | |

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that the recently revealed PS3 platinum range will be made available in Europe from 1st August, and the games will be reduced to £19.99. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that the new 80GB model of the PlayStation 3, which will replace the existing 40GB model, is going to be released in Europe on 27th August, 2008 for £299. "It will be a simultaneous launch across all PAL territories, and reach Russia two weeks later, due to compliance issues," said SCEE president David Reeves. | |

While Doom 4 will be powered by the same id Tech 5 technology as Rage, co-founder and designer John Carmack says it would appear to be "a totally new game engine".
Whereas the open-world shooter Rage will run at 60FPS, id will be able to chuck "three times as much horsepower" at Doom 4 running at 30FPS. | |
