System 3 set to develop Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli for PS2

System 3 announced this morning that its upcoming racing simulation, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, will also be released for the PlayStation 2 this spring.

Ferrari Challenge is a re-creation of Ferrari's own racing series, which sees both both professional and amateur drivers taking to the world’s most famous race tracks in 430 Challenge race cars Developed by racing game specialists Eutechnyx, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli draws upon the developer’s years of experience with racing titles and includes a uniquely magical touch from GP2 driver Bruno Senna, nephew of F1 legend Ayrton and technical consultant on the game’s handling.

THQ decides to scrap several franchises

We've got more news from Financial documents today, but this one bring some sour news to the gaming industry. THQ has decided to scrap a few of its titles, and two franchises will also be wiped out of the development line.

Stuntman Ignition was released towards the end of last year and received average reviews from the media, for this reason THQ has scraped the series.

Zavvi set to expand games area

Zavvi has told MCV that they'll be increasing their games area by 15 percent, taking shelf space from the music section.

The reason for this increase is because during the Christmas season the store saw a big increase in the amount of game products that got sold. This will mark the second time its increased its range of gaming products.

French magazine reveals Alone in the Dark Release Date

The French Newspaper, Les Echos, has an exclusive interview with Patrick Leleu where they talk about Alone in the Dark which is set to be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and PS2. In this interview Leleu reveals that Alone in the Dark will be released in May, giving it a different release date shown on Nintendo's recent American release date list.

Silent Hill: Origins coming to PS2?

Retail chains, Amazon and Gamefly have revealed product pages for Silent Hill Origins on the PS2, which would confirm recent rumours about the title appearing on this platform as well as the PSP which it has only currently been announced for.

Website Siliconera noticed that both of the retail chains had box art posted up which also declared a release date, Amazon listing it for a 4th March 2008 date and GameFly pushing it back a bit to 31st March 2008.

The Competition Commission has confirmed that Game's acquisition of Gamestation is almost set and that the market shouldn't expect to see any substantial lessening of competition for the supply of gaming software, consoles and related accessories in the UK.

Game said: "The board of The GAME Group is pleased to note that the Competition Commission, in its final report published today, has unconditionally cleared the completed acquisition of Gamestation,"

A 61 year-old man from North Ayreshire who sold copied games, films and music to trawlermen returning to Troon Harbour, South Ayrshire after an extended fishing trip in exchange for a box of crabs has been fined £3,000.

On 5th November 2007, George Clarke pleaded guility to ’specimen’ charges present to him by Ayr Sheriff Court pertaining to the illegal sale of copied games, music and films.
