World of Warcraft is Blizzard's sole MMO and they won't be turning their backs on it, as COO Paul Sams affirms they "absolutely positively" will continue support.

Their new MMO is in fact "more complementary than competitive" to WoW. Their new online world will snare "a lot of hearts and minds" thanks to "dream team".

Network tech firm Pikkotekk aiming for "1000-player FPS" record

Swedish-based Pikkotekk want a record shattering 1000 players online in a single FPS world, and say the client is the issue and not the server army.

To create this MMO FPS would be a technical feat "of such magnitude" that it couldn't help but "impress random women in bars".

MicroVolts' open beta March 10th

Rock Hippo studio has announced the open beta date for their MMO third-person shooter, MicroVolts. This March 10th will let any who signs up check it out.

The new game mode 'Elimination' gets added this Thursday, as well as two new maps. The team are running Tournaments and "other surprise events".

Karl-Magnus Troedsson, general manager of developer DICE, is not a fan of MMO shooters, stating the mechanics of a first person shooter are ill-suited to an MMO. Troedsson was responding to an interview with Game Informer asking them about Bungie's unannounced game.

WoW users 'not ready' for Firelands

Blizzard's J. Allen Brack, lead producer for World of Warcraft, has announced there will be no Firelands raid included in the upcoming big 4.1 patch.

It's because players aren't "really ready for the next raid yet," saying enough hasn't been looted from Cataclysm. Aim for smaller but more content updates.

Bungie lead network engineer David Aldridge confirmed at a panel session at the Game Developers Conferencethat the developer's next title is a "massively multiplayer action game." He also stated that the game is not called "WoW in Space".

World of Warcraft was hit a with a plague back in 2005, the 'Hakkar Blood Plague', which was meant to be confined to the Zul'Gurub high-level dungeon.

It was infectious to players and it broke out. Dr. Nina Fefferman is an epidemiologist and she claimed it provided quite a 'fascinating insight' into epidemics.

Publisher NCSoft looked into the casual and free-to-play MMO scene but they decided it wasn't for them, and they 'completely refocused' on big projects.

Titles like "Aion, Lineage II, Guild Wars" are what NCSoft are keen on. Fewer releases but "with higher quality" is their strategy, "targeting" promising MMOs.

MMO World of Tanks is kept up and running in North America by a "large private data center complex" owned by Caronet; it's a "uniquely designed network".

It's "fully redundant and self-healing" to keep those tanks online and blasting each other. Caronet "fully satisfies" Wargaming.net's needs for World of Tanks.

BBC announce Doctor Who MMO

California-based Three Rings is developing an MMO based on the BBC's Doctor Who franchise, and it's expected to be launched this year free-to-play.

We can look forward to "time-bending puzzles" in the Doctor Who: Worlds in Time MMO. They want to tap into the "imaginative spirit and depth" of the series.

Rift's servers are packed, filled to the gill with players on both hemisphere's - despite the fact the game will be released on March 1 in North America, and only pre-orders are allowed to engage in the Headstart pre-release. Some servers have two hour wait times. Keep in mind there are 26 North American servers and 20 European servers.

According to leaked notes for the upcoming new patch for World of Warcraft, Blizzard is revamping two 'old WoW' dungeons to support heroic raids.

Level 85 heroic five-man raids to be more precise. Epic items of level 353 will be lootable, and you need item levels of 346 to get in. Rare mounts return too.

ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 has three more professions to reveal and publisher NCSoft has teased that Mesmer and Assassin players "will be happy."

They wouldn't divulge how exactly but there's something for them it seems, for people who "enjoy that play-style" there will be a profession "they like as well."

LEGO Universe developer NetDevil, based in Colorado, have laid-off "a lot of talented folks" reveals a now former employee. The studio has cut "over 20 people."

Only a "very, VERY small team" is retained for LEGO Universe. Numerous former staff have posted NetDevil tombstones on their Facebook profiles.

Vogster Entertainment have always kept MMO CrimeCraft on the 'console radar' as they would "absolutely love" to hit the next-gen console platforms.

Sony has released the first title update for DC Universe Online for PS3 and PC. Included is a new 8-player raid in the Batcave, and new hero-based missions.

The Auction House is now running and they've thrown in some 'Love is a Battlefield' holiday cheer. The social UI has been streamlined as well for easier chat.
