Cryptic unveils Champions Online 'Nemesis Confrontation' update

Developer Cryptic has released information on the latest update to hit the superhero MMO, which has gotten new content from Blood Moon.

This new patch focuses more on the player Nemesis, adding a whole new lair to beat and new costumes and perks to earn. It's live next week.

Norway-based Funcom hasn't made any monies this past Q3 2009, compared to the $3.3m they gained from the same period last year.

Not to worry, they've got $34.8m stuffed under the mattress as of September 30th. Recent trimmings will help save them $400k a month.

Giant EA has been on a crusade of late as they trim stafffers from the payroll, with 1,500 jobs in their sights to go by March 31st next year.

Developer Mythic has issued a letter to fans where they "reinforce" their dedication to their games and players. Warhammer Online is safe.

Blizzard has been nice enough to give us a deadline and dangle a penguin pet in our faces, all so we'd merge our user accounts together.

Now if you want to play World of Warcraft you're going to need a Battle.net account, otherwise you can't do squat. Got your penguin?

New Shadowbane trademark found, non-MMO coverage for Ubisoft

Publisher Ubi has submitted a trademark filing for Shadowbane, but it's not for MMO purposes but just a normal game it seems.

Shadowbane closed its servers this year after six years running. Ubi is staying quiet on the matter, but it looks like something's coming.

The MMO sequel Guild Wars 2 won't be releasing any time in 2010, though "at least a closed beta" is expected by publisher NCsoft in 2010.

As for the full game, fans will have to wait for developer ArenaNet to finish "probably sometime" in 2011. Blade & Soul not until then too.

Atari announces European and US dates for Star Trek Online

Atari today announced that Star Trek Online will be released on February 2nd, 2010 in North America and February 5th, 2010 in Europe for PC.

"Star Trek Online is poised to become the ultimate Star Trek gaming experience," said Jim Wilson, CEO of Atari, Inc. "Throughout the last four decades, Star Trek has been a mainstay in pop culture, influencing legions of fans through television, film, and more. Profits rocket for NCsoft, Aion nears 1m copies sold in NA and EU

Publisher NCsoft has very good reason to be chuffed as the newly released MMO Aion, here in the west, has soared profits 836 percent.

Aion has almost reached 1 million sales when combining North America and Europe. It had 400k preorders before going fully live.

EA Mythic launch "endless free trial" for MMO Warhammer Online

The previous 10-day trial limit for WAR has been dropped by developer Mythic, in favour of an unlimited one, which comes with restrictions.

Those who want a sample of Warhammer Online can do so for as long as they want, capped at level 10 and limited to starter zones.

Blizzard has finally succumbed to the lure of micro-transactions. Putting two of it's in-game pets up for sale in the Blizzard Store, this marks the first time the company has offered WoW items for sale for real-life currency.

Interplay gains ground against Bethesda, teases with concept art

The whole legal fisticuffs between Interplay and Bethesda seem to have had some development somewhere, with Interplay posting concepts of the secretive Project V13.

Chris Taylor confirms the artworks, saying they give a feel "for what we are aiming for with V13," the alleged Fallout MMO project. He's "bugging the lawyers" to get more concepts up.

Funcom has announced the launch of a new free update for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.

The update 5.6 is named "Nights of Lost Souls" and introduces new in-game seasonal content, new quests and rewards, a new high-level dungeon and the Veteran Points system.

To celebrate Halloween and the launch of the Blood Moon update to MMO Champions Online, developer Cryptic are holding a free-to-play weekend to entice newcomers.

From this Friday till Monday, Oct. 30th to Nov. 2nd, users can sign up and not pay a penny. Blood Moon's new content is available from tomorrow for subscribers, like werewolf attacks!

From the creators of Warcraft III mod Defence of The Ancients, League of Legends is a free-to-play RTS/RPG hybrid strategy game that's just fired up its open beta phase to fans.

It's billed as a highly competitive multiplayer romp, which is no surprise given the enormous success of the DoTA mod for Blizzard's classic Warcraft III. Open beta runs for a week only.

The LEGO Universe MMO has been in the works for three and a half years now, with a release on PC expected for next year. The game's story centers on rebuilding.

It plays in similar style to Traveller's Tales LEGO platform games, and doesn't adopt traditional RPG levelling. Players can either follow the story or build, brick by brick, their own creations.
