Square Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy XIV has been confirmed for PC and PlayStation 3 but hasn't been mentioned for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Until now, thanks to Yuuki Akama of Square Enix Japan. Her online CV clearly noted Final Fantasy XIV for all three platforms. Could it happen?

Sony's Peter Dille says they're pushing the classics idea to third-parties because it's a "terrific opportunity" both financially and for the brand.

The senior VP of marketing agrees "this stuff has an audience", and Sony are doing their part to relaunch classic titles to "lead by example".

Dante's Inferno producer says "there are no plans" to do a sequel

Visceral Games' executive producer Jonathan Knight reveals there aren't any plans for a second game of Dante's Inferno, only DLC mapped.

Knight has read the "entire divine comedy", thought about a sequel, but has nothing in the works. Oh and sorry but there's no Kratos cameo...

Sony's senior VP of marketing and PSN boss Peter Dille says they're closing in fast on Microsoft and the Xbox 360; won't need 10 years.

While not predicting anything, says Dille, "we'll pass them" and adds Microsoft missed their opportunity to "sprint as far ahead" as possible.

Gas Powered Games reveals "Next big thing" on February 15

Gas Powered Games, developers of Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege, are planning to show off the “next big thing” on February 15.

This comes from Chris Taylor, who updated his personal facebook page with a message saying: "Another busy day, can't wait to announce our next big thing on the 15th... I hate keeping secrets. :)"

Codemasters dismiss US closure claims, its "open and operational"

UK publisher Codemasters has denied their US offices are closing, but do confirm that "six staff have been let go" from the commercial team.

Their offices in Burbank, California remain "operational" and led by Bill West. They're returning it to a "core sales and publishing operation".

Heavy Rain requires 4.2GB install

According to various reports, Sony's Heavy Rain will require a very large amount of space on your PS3's hard drive, taking over 4.2GB of space to install.

Although you'll be pleased to know that there will be a guide during the installation that shows you how to make a Swan Origami (Featured in the game), which will hopefully keep you entertained until it has finished.

Order of War: Challenge unveiled, a stand-alone multiplayer add-on

Wargaming.net has announced 'Order of War: Challenge' which doesn't need the original game to play. It offers "12 unique maps" for fans.

It packs 6 new multiplayer modes, 4 co-op survival missions, some classic "capture-the-base", and even "epic" free-for-alls. Only on Steam.

Namco Bandai will drop 630 staff, expects a $342m loss this March

By March this year Namco Bandai was predicting a 8.5 billion YEN net income, keeping them in the black by $93 million - that isn't the case now.

Accountants now foretell of a 31 billion YEN loss in March, and Namco Bandai will try to counteract this by letting go 630 employees.

Developer FireSky of MMO Stargate Worlds has amazingly declared that PC shooter Stargate Resistance will be out February 10.

Why is that amazing? Well, Stargate Worlds has been thought dead many times and 'Resistance' was only unveiled in December.

Sony license Buffalo to make official and external PS3 500GB HDDs

PC hardware guys Buffalo have landed Sony PlayStation licensing to put together external hard drive units for the PS3 - which connect via USB.

Buffalo's two drives are both 500GB, which gear up in preparation for Sony's launch of the 'Torne' digital video recorder in March for PS3.

Developer Crytek has been very busy with Crysis 2, moving it from a jungle island to an urban one as it's set in the very tall New York City.

That means there's plenty of vertical action this time around. Nanosuit 2.0 is sounding better as well, combing speed and strength.

EA's NFL Super Bowl ad censored, Dante's Inferno tagline changed

Broadcaster CBS wasn't happy with EA's Dante's Inferno ad that they submitted for a premium slot during Sunday's NFL Super Bowl.

The violence and all that was fine, but its "Go To Hell" message was not. This tagline first struck in its debut trailer. EA alters it for CBS.

Metro 2033's western release keeps optional Russian voiceovers

Developer 4A-Games are keeping the Russian in the English release of upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033, with subtitles.

It's purely for that extra atmosphere, if you want it. Let's hope both are well voiced. The game releases March 19th for Xbox 360 and PC.

GameFly reveals Final Fantasy XIII "a three disc game" on Xbox 360

Square Enix is yet to officially confirm how many DVDs come with Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360, but rental service GameFly has told us.

PlayStation 3 of course uses Blu-ray, so that's just one disc. Everyone expected multiple for Xbox 360, and now we know - we can move on.

Koei confirms Quantum Theory delay in Europe

Koei has told Strategy Informer that Quantum Theory has been delayed in Europe, confirming reports that the game had been delayed until late 2010 in the US and Japan.

"We can confirm that Quantum Theory has been moved to later in 2010. We
feel the game deserves optimum development time, and we aim to deliver the
very best title we can."
said Ben Lawrence, PR Manager for Koei. "We are still thoroughly committed to Quantum Theory and this short delay can only make for a stronger, more entertaining game."

BBC's Merlin "quite perfect" for videogame, in talks with studios

Merlin is a new hit-TV series on BBC, following a young Arthur and Merlin as they challenge evil. It's entering into its third series this September.

Rights-holder Fremantle are looking for a games developer to adapt Merlin, which they believe could be a "real core game." We hope so.

Gran Turismo 5 coming "this fall" says Sony Europe, not definitive

In an interview, Sony Portugal boss James Armstrong says they've got Gran Turismo 5 lining up for a fall 2010 window, but haven't decided.

This is quite agonizing for GT fans especially as the game is 90 percent done, according to Polyphony head Kazunori Yamauchi. More delay?

Koei delays Quantum Theory

Various reports are suggesting that Koei has delayed its action shooter Quantum Theory from 25th March to TBA.

According to the reports, this delay was only confirmed for the US and Japanese versions of the game. It was delayed due to "quality concerns".
