Microsoft's Games For Windows label doesn't have support from Stardock Games, as CEO Brad Wardell says if they ever took over PC gaming then he's "done" making them.

Wardell isn't amused by their current strategy of title updates, especially if you go over the limit because then "you have to pay money." Luckily for Stardock many still avoid the label.

Insomniac Games' Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time will be getting a demo before the US release date of October 27th. In fact it will be getting two at the same time.

The demo originally planned for fans was too big reveals the developers, and so they decided to split it. You therefore get a taste of Ratchet and Clank levels separately. Genius.

EA's Spore has "truly original" potential, Fox partner for feature film

Publisher EA and Twentieth Century Fox have combined might to get Spore on the big silver screen, with Ice Age director Chris Wedge attached. Spore "provides the potential".

Spore is the creation of Maxis and Will Wright which has players design and control their very own species, and eventually a space faring civilization. EA and Fox see a film in it.

No western Bayonetta demo until Q1 2010, one for Japan next week

Publisher Sega has ruined Christmas, or may as well have for gamers looking forward to PlatinumGames' Bayonetta getting a playable demo this year, unless you're Japanese.

If your PlayStation 3 happens to call Japan 'home' then you're in luck because next week a demo will release on the PlayStation Network. Bayonetta on PS3 has had some trouble.

Sony celebrate PSP Go launch with minis and full games on PSN

This week's PlayStation Store update is dominated by PSP thanks to the launch of Go this week. So on offer are 13 minis games like Tetris, Alien Havoc, Breakquest and others.

Also going for PSP are full title releases like FIFA 10, Iron Man, Beaterator, God of War, GTA: Liberty City Stories and more for higher price tags. PS3 meanwhile gets Brutal Legend demo!

CD Projekt acquired by firm Optimus, dev enters stock exchange

The Witcher developer CD Projekt has been bought by the Polish tech firm Optimus, with the company paying in shares which are now owned by the studios current bosses.

This has effectively given CD Projekt a way to become a publicly-traded company so they can get themselves on the Warsaw stock exchange, without as much red tape hassle.

Naughty Dog would "love to be able to" make a PS3 Jak and Daxter

Uncharted is all the focus of developer Naughty Dog right now, however the volume of fans for more Jak and Daxter is big. They "definitely hear a lot" for more of the duo.

Arne Meyer of Naughty Dog says they'd love to do it "at some point" but right now they're "focused on working through" Uncharted. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier hits PSP soon.

Grid and Dirt reboot leader Gavin Raeburn leaves Codemasters

Executive producer Gavin Raeburn has left publisher Codemasters after having successfully rebooted two racing franchises. He was "at the top" of his game.

Raeburn leaves "an incredibly talented team" behind at Codemasters that he put together. They include "key players" who will push their "racing portfolio forward." He's wished well.

Empire: Total War's 1.5 patch to include 5 maps, don't need Warpath

Developer Creative Assembly will say "thank you" to the community by including five new multiplayer maps free when the 1.5 patch goes live, which is when Warpath retails.

Warpath is the mini-expansion to Empire: Total War. The patch is said to include significant tweaks to the game AI and the new maps support "all team sizes". Warpath here "soon."

D3 reveal Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond, 2.5D side scroller

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard wasn't exactly a huge success, but D3 Publisher is confident a return to Matt Hazard's more traditional roots will do the trick.

They've announced Blood Bath and Beyond, a side scrolling action fest that promises a "flood of carnage" that the 8-bit era "didn't want gamers to see." It'll be on XBLA and PSN.

All City of Heroes players in "good standing" that return to the superhero fold can sample the improvements made to the MMO for free over next weekend, with double XP.

From next Thursday the 8th till Monday the 12th, returning users can play for free. During that time XP, Influence and Infamy gains double. Want to create your own missions?

Cryptic go live with big Champions Online update, addresses much

The new superhero MMO on the block, Champions Online, has its latest patch live. It has loads of changes to UI, general stuff, powers, cities, zones, classes and lots more.

Things like "memory-related crashes" have had a seeing to. Some new Steam achievements are in, but aren't retroactive. Plus a cure for that disappearing mouse cursor...

Creutz: EA has "largely missed" console gen, will under perform

Analyst Doug Creutz says publisher EA has "largely missed this console cycle," and believes the company is far from anyone wanting to possibly acquire it right now.

Creutz also lowers hopes of BioWare's upcoming Dragon Age: Origins by 550,000, bringing it under 1.5 million copies sold. Need for Speed: Shift won't reach a million within a year.

The PC brawler powered by Valve's Source engine will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade in its 'Ultimate' form from developer ACE Team. It comes with new stuff and improvements.

A huge swathe of changes have arrived for Ironclad Games' space strategy Sins of a Solar Empire, with all units getting a tweak and some even an outright overhaul.

Logging into Stardock's Impulse will get you the mega patch. It's really surprised the developers how strategies "have evolved" over the one and half years the game has been out.

Sony has said the recent report from users of Blu-ray trouble, like unreadable discs or game freezes, is not "an issue with the firmware". Users blame 3.01 for causing trouble.

Meanwhile Home now has 'Universal Game Launching' added with the release of v1.3. This means that certain supported titles can launch, and includes multiplayer options in Home.

Yes that's right, an energy drink promotion between Monster Energy Drinks and Infinity Ward reveals that multiplayer map packs will arrive for Modern Warfare 2 in spring 2010.

Modern Warfare 2 themed boxes of the drink promises a load of prizes, including 100 free copies of the game to give away, 5,000 map pack codes and 10,000 dashboard themes.

Dark Energy Digital's water-based Hydrophobia has become an episodic title which plans to release solely over the Xbox Live Arcade it seems, with three parts on the way.

They'll be released over a 12 month period with each lasting around 5 hours. If Hydrophobia proves a hit then DED will work another three. It's all about a sinking-ship and a fearful woman.

Sony Uncharted 2 cinema event could 'start something', "fill seats"

Movie cinemas aren't in too good of shape as they used to be but Sony has an idea, and one they're going to test with Naughty Dog's latest Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

They will have the game playable in one of four US cinemas, which are equipped with Sony 4K digital cinema tech. Could be the "start of something", could be a "standard element".

No new Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, not "that kind of potential"

Team ICO's Fumito Ueda has said the PlayStation 2 hits Ico and Shadow of the Colossus won't be getting sequel releases, they could never have "exceeded the first" entries.

The Last Guardian occupies the same space as Colossus and Ico but no direct continuation is being handled, and won't be. The sequels just couldn't go "above and beyond" originals.
