Dead Space played twice as much as bought, "a lot of used sales"

EA man Glen Schofield, studio manager for Visceral Games, has said they did studies on "how many unique users there were" over XBL and PSN for Dead Space.

They found around 3 million had played the game, which is about twice the number of copies bought new. The dev team wanted Dead Space a "bang for the buck," without online play.

Despite being a superhero themed MMO from Cryptic, gamers won't need to employ a supercomputer to the play in embarrassing lycra jumpsuits.

Champions Online requires quite a modest PC by today's standard, even at recommended. As long as you're not living out the glory days of the late 90's, you should be set for launch time.

Square: Eidos no longer to publish, hopes to "minimise" job losses

Square Enix has decided to close down the Eidos publishing arm and instead open their own. Square Enix Europe is to be helmed by Eidos CEO Phil Rogers.

They are now "expecting some jobs to be impacted" with this move, on both sides of the Atlantic pond. The developer studios will continue with the Eidos name, that won't change.

Sony has "no plans" for Demon's Souls in Europe, has no publisher

There's no one to bring Demon's Souls to Europe, no publisher seems interested in picking it up to distribute in the 'old countries', not even in Britain!

Atlus themselves are "not aware of any plans/publishers" to bring the game to Europe, but they're hopeful "word of mouth" might pique interest for an EU publisher. Start flapping those gums!

Two Worlds II has binned add-on content, but "not a simple rename"

Publisher TopWare has said the sequel title does contain bits from Two Worlds: The Temptation, which was canned, but it's not that game in disguise.

Two Worlds II is "a different title and not a simple rename," they affirmed after acknowledging "some ideas and story" have been adopted. The sequel has "state-of-the-art" tech.

Ubisoft: Core of Assassin's Creed 2 "will be longer" than original

Answering questions from the great unwashed masses, Ubisoft have claimed the core path through the sequel tops the "20 hours it took in the first game."

Assassin's Creed 2 also packs optional gameplay that adds "a lot of depth" to the game, and does so in "a very significant and meaningful way." It's "too early" for total hours.

Capcom stamps Bionic Commando with PC date, to arrive July 17th

Finally, skulkers of desktops can get some Bionic Commando. The game releases for PC users next Friday on July 17th announced Capcom, with DX10 support.

It also comes with higher resolutions, options for online play and remappable controls for us picky types with a PC. Bionic Commando will have been on console by almost two months.

Some scamp has gone and given the Internet something to froth at the mouth over, a new MechWarrior game, possibly, is hinted at through some footage.

Of course such a project is rumour, but VE3D says they already know what it is and will tell the rest of us tomorrow when they air an interview with Jordan Weisman and Russ Bullock.

Funcom "very eager" to show Age of Conan add-on at GamesCom

Noting that players "will be pleased" with the announcement and what they've got to show this August at GamesCom, developer Funcom can't wait.

Funcom's Erling Elllingsen has said a "dedicated team" have been working on the expansion for quite a while now, it will "build upon the strengths" of the barbarian MMO.

Bungie give sneak peek to Halo 3 maps coming this Fall, with ODST

Three maps included on a Halo 3 multiplayer disc that ships with Halo 3: ODST this September, have been teased by developer Bungie with screens.

Heretic, Longshore and Citadel are their names; a Covenant structure, an industrial dockyard and a Forerunner stronghold respectively. Bungie also give short, sweet descriptions.

Techland to "unwind a little bit", 'Warhound' on hold to "reevaluate"

Developer Techland has been working on Warhound, an "open ended FPS", but the project was postponed to work on Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

Techland's Blazej Krakowiak has said they're now cooling off after the release of such "an ambitious and well-received title", and that the team will "reevaluate all the options." Trouble?

ZeniMax was lent $105 million to buy id Software, has IOUs to cover

It has come to light that Bethesda parent company ZeniMax has borrowed $105 million in order to purchase id Software, through "convertible notes and promissory notes".

It's unclear if that sum of monies was the total sale price for the veteran development studio. In 2007 the company raised $300 million in private equity funding for a mystery MMO.

Tretton: Sony "sacrificing" short-term to "pay dividends" long-term

Sony America boss Jack Tretton has said this price fixation on the PlayStation 3 is "short-term thinking", it's only three years old. It was $599, now it's $399.

The corporate giant has the "conviction and the confidence" to stay on the "right path for the long term". Their strategy is to win consumers "over a 10-year period," can't have them all day one.

Both Microsoft and developer Remedy are only talking of the Xbox 360 version of Alan Wake right now, with a PC version apparently up in the air at the moment.

Finnish mag Pelaaja visited the studio and gleamed some intel, like a Spring 2010 window, light still an important element, no longer sandbox, the game only the start for Alan Wake?

Konami ditching ID hoop jumps, will just use the XBL and PSN ones

If you like to play Konami games online then you might have noticed a spot of bother, actually three spots, to get the thing going in multiplayer.

Konami required you have a Konami ID, and then a separate one for the game itself, and that's before dealing with Xbox Live or PlayStation Network's own ID system. Well, not anymore.

Polyphony: GT5 more than just a game, "the new industry standard"

Gran Turimso legend Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony Digital, has claimed they'll set a new industry wide standard as long as the devs "actually achieve our goals".

The trailer for GT5 at E3 showed but "a very small portion" of what the full game has to offer. Providing the game will "fulfil our expectations", other studios will have new bar to beat.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive hopes to see a repeat to Blood Bowl's "excellent sales" in France, Germany and Spain when it arrives in the UK this September.

Sales figures in mainland Europe have lain "doubts firmly to rest," Blood Bowl is a winner. The game mixes Warhammer's penchant for violence and American football; it's love.

Sony says "design concern" could stop The Agency cross-platform

Sony Online Entertainment's Kevin O'Hara has revealed they've hit a snag, that people aren't so happy with cross-platform after all, it could be dropped.

The Agency beta will have it in but it's "up in the air" right now for retail, but from a technical standpoint they "can do it if we want." Not for this year, but will release on PS3 and PC together.
