Rod Cousens: ten-year lifecycle for next-gen systems
Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens has told Next-Gen that he believes the current ten-year lifecycle promised by Sony will also be present for Microsoft's Xbox 360.
Cousens believes that the Wii won't last ten years because of its technology and the fact that it is essentially a Gamecube 1.5.

Nintendo has released one new title to the Wii Virtual Console this week and the said game is Adventures of Lolo 2. This puzzle game picks up where adventures of Lolo left off. After rescuing Lala from her captor, Lolo is presented with a new challenge when the terrifying Great Devil kidnaps Lala again, daring Lolo to climb his tower and battle him for her freedom.

During a third-quarter conference call by Electronic Arts, CEO john Riccitiello confirmed that a Wii version of Rock band is currently in development.

Electronic Arts is gearing up for an entirely new boxing franchise, one that focuses less on the serious sporting career and more on the face. From the creators of Fight Night heralds this fresh, comical and arcade-style journey of pummelling your opponents mug until it breaks upon your fists of fury.

The Sunday Post, A Scottish newspaper, reports that a piracy computer chip is now being used in Scotland. The chip uses the R4 to become the ultimate piracy tool and is said to have huge implications for the gaming industry.
It's sold for around £40 and creates a virtual unlimited passport to pirated software titles for the Nintendo DS. The R4 allows users to illegally download games directly from the Internet, and fits into the DS cartridge slot allowing people to transfer anything saved on a removable flash disk.

Eidos Interactive announced Monster Lab this morning, a brand new RPG action game in development for the Nintendo Wii and DS.
MONSTER LAB is set in the eerie world of Uncanny Valley where the evil Baron Mharti rules with a cruel hand. The player takes on the role of an apprentice scientist who must perform a vast array of intricate experiments to create their very own monster from over 100 million possible monster part variations on offer. Taking control of your monster, the player can then explore the land; searching for ingredients to make more monster parts, hunting out other monsters to defeat in combat, uncovering quests to embark upon or simply competing in the numerous mini-games available.

EA confirmed this morning that they'll be canceling the recent Marvel deal which saw the company planning an action-fighting game, likely to be released on multiple platforms such as the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC.
Justin Lombros, VP of Marvel Interactive, said: “Electronic Arts and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of Marvel fighting games under the Electronic Arts brand,”

Civilization Revolution for the Wii on hold

Firaxis and 2K Games announced that they would be developing a Wii version of its upcoming RTS Civilization Revolution which is also going to be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. But IGN has been told that the Wii version was put on hold because the company wants to concentrate on the other versions to ensure that they make the best possible civilization experience yet.
The 2K Games spokesperson said: “Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is currently on hold, we are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms."

Rockstar Games have been fighting to allow Manhunt 2 to go on sale in the UK, but a new part in this saga has been revealed today as the High Court has issued a ruling against the Video Appeals Committee's decision to overturn the British Board of Film Censors decision to refuse a classification for Manhunt 2.

Sega announced today that it will soon begin distributing its Sega Master System titles on the Nintendo Virtual Console.
Master System titles will start appearing in Japan first, but European and North American gamers should start to see them shortly after February. The first titles to be released will be the Fist of the North Star, which is 600 Wii points and Fantasy Zone at 500 Wii points.

Ubisoft's recent financial documents reveal that Prince of Persia could be making a return to the video game world sometime in 2008 or 2009, but no information like a planned name or what platforms it'll appear on were mentioned.
