As sure as Polly wants a cracker, Ubisoft has announced a Game of the Year edition for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. It's called the Jackdaw Edition and includes the full game and Season Pass.

This GOTY release is only billed for PC, Xbox One and PS4 with Amazon the only source for it in the UK. Included as part of the booty is Freedom Cry, the story DLC starring Adewale.

Ubisoft is taking a different approach with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's add-on Freedom Cry by also releasing it as a standalone game. The DLC stars Adewale as a now trained Assassin.

It will release first for PS3 and PS4 February 19th but then on PC February 25th. Of course it can already be enjoyed in ACIV: Black Flag. Freedom Cry has nine missions across Haiti.

It was remarked last year that Ubisoft had "an idea of where the end is" for Assassin's Creed, but that's speaking only in terms of the current story arc, explains Black Flag writer Darby McDevitt.

He admits there's "been a bit of confusion" over the matter, but while Ubisoft will end storylines they "don't want to definitively end the universe," with plenty left to explore.

Once again EA Sports has lead the kick-off for the UK chart in an all-new year as FIFA 14 achieved its 6th week as number one. FIFA 13 managed the same thing week one last year, with 21% less sales.

Call of Duty: Ghosts was 2nd followed by Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag 3rd. Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V remains strong 4th, and could become the biggest selling game in the UK.
