Epic Games' trilogy instalment Gears of War 3 entered the UK all format chart in 1st place last week, with driving sim F1 2011 debuting just behind in 2nd place.
Techland's Dead Island is still going strong in 3rd, and Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution holds on 5th for another week. Resistance 3 sinks 8th.

Lead writer Darby McDevitt has said they've got almost all Assassin's Creed lore locked down, and Ezio's fate was "conceived and planned" during Brotherhood.
There's always room for a "cool new story" if it "sits deep within the narrative," but otherwise events are "planned out." Altair's has been 'completed' for two years.

Publisher Ubisoft is proud of their PC DRM with its persistent online connection demands as they've seen a "clear reduction in piracy of our titles", they note.
From that point of view it "is a success". Ubisoft has been using this system since Settlers 7, which then saw it expand to all Ubi PC titles released afterward.

Picking up where comic series Assassin's Creed: The Fall ended, The Chain will continue the shoot-off goings on in the Assassin's Creed universe.
Comic notables Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl continue collaboration with The Chain. A prologue for the new series will accompany The Fall this November.

Ubisoft releasing Assassin's Creed: Lineage short on Blu-ray

The short film introducing the lore of Assassin's Creed 2 will be getting a full Blu-ray release this November. It'll be accompanied by a 'Making Of' feature.
Also bundled with the Assassin's Creed: Lineage 35 minute film is an animated short titled Assassin's Creed: Ascendance. There are dev diaries and trailers too.
