Assassin's Creed 3 leads UbiSoft into profitable 3Q 2012
UbiSoft has reported that the company enjoyed a profitable 3Q of 2012, chiefly due to the success of Assassin's Creed 3 and "back catalog" sales. The publisher enjoyed an increase of 23% in year-to-year over Q3 2011, going from 652M euro million to 802M euro.

Swedish-based Ubisoft Massive is tinkering around on a next generation online RPG, according to game designer Marc Cartwright's LinkedIn profile. It's unclear if Massive is leading development or not.
Speculatory eyebrows are raising at the notion this could be the 'God of War lite' project that was leaked back in August, which looked a little Prince of Persia, but wasn't related to the IP.

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed 3 has become the publisher's most preordered title in his history. While the publisher didn't give an exact figure, it did say that the game has doubled Assassin's Creed: Revelations preorder figures.

Assassin's Creed creative director Alex Hutchinson bemoans the state of affairs in the press when it comes to Western and Japanese games being rated in terms of narrative and pacing.
The Ubisoft exec said some Japanese titles were praised highly despite story being "literally gibberish," but that Western studios would never be 'let of the hook' for it. "It's condescending to do this."

Some coding enthusiasts have discovered a little something in Ubisoft's Uplay platform for PC leading others to blast it as a 'rootkit'. It stealthly installs a browser plug-in which isn't secure.
The plugin granted its discoverer "unexpectedly (at least to me) wide access" to websites. It's a rather embarrassing hiccup if true.
UPDATE: Trend Micro's Rik Ferguson, director of the security research firm, has said it's "not a malicious root, just really bad code." It's "a huge risk" .
