ABOUT

Another little tidbit for the Ace Combat fans and people who want a fresh new look on their F-15 and MiG-29. First came the Cipher F-15, now you have the planes of the character Cipher wishes he was. The legendary Mobius 1.

The F-15C:

It looks fairly similar to Cipher's F-15, because both of the aircraft are based on the Japan Air Self Defense Force's F-15DJ 'Sotoao' aggressor paint scheme. Cipher's plane is a more smoothed-out version of this scheme, while the Mobius version is a much closer copy of the real thing.

Due to texture mapping difficulties it isn't 100% faithful to the aircraft seen in Ace Combat 04. Ingame the squadron number, 118, is on either side of the nose, which is impossible on the DC F-15 due to mirror-imaging. I therefore took the liberty to use the tail markings from the Mobius F-15E instead, with the airbase code for North Point and squadron numbers on the tail. The ISAF text has been removed because it made things look a bit too cluttered.

The MiG-29A:

Not very different from the standard DC MiG-29 scheme. The usual grey/green, but the Iraqi markings have been replace with suitable ISAF logos and the 118th TFW 'Mobius' logo added to the tail.

Anyway, enjoy the skins, and become a legend in the skies! =D

INSTALLATION:

Installation (for the game in general):

Extract the 'texture.rfa' file found under 'Archives' in your Desert Combat folder. Move all of the files from the F-15 folder into the directory 'DesertCombat/F15C' and overwrite the old files (back them up first just in case). Move the files from the MiG-29 folder into 'DesertCombat/Mig29'. Repack the texture.rfa and you should be good to go.

Installation (for a map-by-map basis):

Extract your map file and create a folder called 'Texture', place the skin in the folder, and repack the map. If the skin isn't showing up, open the init.con file for your map and somewhere near the top add the line:

textureManager.alternativePath bf1942/levels/LevelName/Texture

Everytime you save in Battlecraft that line will be overwritten however. If the skin isn't showing up double-check that it's still there.

If you don't have an RFA extractor, you can use Battlecraft 42 to add the skin to your map file. While your map is open, go 'Tools -> Add File To Archive'. Press 'Add' and select the skins, then press OK. Then in the 'Destination' box, type 'bf1942/levels/LevelName/Texture/' and hit OK. Save the map, and the next time you run the map the skin should appear.

LEGAL STUFF

Distribute this file around as many websites as you like, put it in custom maps or mods and so on, but keep this readme with the skin. Any version that is edited/modified should be clearly noted so, and credit given where credit is due.
