EA's Origin and other servers suffer "unexpected downtime"
The Origin digital platform as well as Answer HQ and other EA servers were hit by "unexpected downtime", announces the publisher. This affected logins to the services which in the case of Origin, meant games were unplayable.
Online accounts, current customer support cases, community forums etc. all suffered downtime with EA "monitoring this outage" and working fast to solve it.

It seems Battlefield makers DICE are being given the extremely important role of handling the Star Wars license EA secured from Disney. They aim for DICE LA to have 60 staff by 2013's end.

EA has had some questionable marketing links with weapons manufacturers in the past, which by the way they vow never to do again, but now they're going one step further; they won't license guns anymore.
No more royalty cheques from EA for using real-world weapons, but that doesn't mean they won't stop using them. They intend to wield the 'fair use' argument in court, if necessary.

EA and DICE's Battlefield 3 and Battlelog servers have come under attack by an external group, knocking out the online services that power the soon-to-be-replaced shooter. They confirmed the outages via twitter.
As of now the attack seems to have been thwarted with all platform servers back up and running. EA recently revealed 3.5 million have subscribed to Battlefield Premium.

The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 is about to gain 1.92GB in weight as DICE release 'Multiplayer Update 6' in preparation for the imminently due End Game add-on, which releases today.
PC Battlefield 3 fans also see their End Game content arrive today, which adds more vehicles like dirt bikes and more anti-AA, as well as four new maps, Capture the Flag mode and dropships.
