Gearbox Software has announced that Borderlands 2 has earned gold master status, and is ready for factory pressing. This means it'll more than make its scheduled release date.

The inclusion of a particular ability in the skill tree of a post-launch character for Borderlands 2 has caused something of a stir as Gearbox's John Hemingway described it as "girlfriend mode".

It refers to a skill that lets you help out a friend who "suck at first-person shooters" by letting them be a bit more liberal with their weapon accuracy. Randy Pitchford has been dragged into the ruckus.

'You.Will. Die. (Seriously.)' That's the name of Borderlands 2's most nightmarish boss rumble according to Gearbox Software, who claim it'll have players royally slapped around.

In fact if you "don't curse the design team at least five times" during the tussle with Terramorphous the Invincible, an incredibly large worm, then "we haven't done our jobs."

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford is claiming that Borderlands 2 compares favorably to Diablo III, sharing the latter's classes, complexity, loot drops and action.
