2K Games unveils Borderlands 2 Collector's Editions

Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 will be getting two different Collector's Editions, reveals 2K Games. Firstly there's the Deluxe Hunter's CE priced at $99, which includes a bobblehead.

The Deluxe Vault Hunter's CE is priced around $149, and is the bigger of the two in goodies. Pre-ordering either CE or standard will give you the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club.

Gearbox announced during their PAX East 2012 panel that there will be two tiers of special editions for its upcoming shooter-RPG Borderlands 2, including a $100 "Deluxe Vault Hunters" edition that will include a Marcus Kincaid bobblehead doll, and an "Ultimate Loot Chest" edition, the price and contents of which are still unknown.

At last night's Gearbox panel, president Randy Pitchford revealed the fifth character class for Borderlands 2, the Mechromancer, who would be the first DLC released for the game. The class is still in the concept stage, but the character appears to be a young cybernetic girl with pigtails, goggles and a robot arm.

Gearbox Software is promising PC gamers that the PC version of Borderlands 2 won't be a console port, and will be filled chock full of PC-specific features such as a PC specific user interface, remappable keyboard controls and integrated VSYNC options, among other things.

However, the way Gearbox is promising it is in a uniquely goof - but sweet - way: a love letter from series mascot Claptrap, who flirts, "I WANT you, baby. I want you BAD."

Borderlands 2 will feature Steam functionality

Gearbox Software has announced that the PC version of Borderlands 2 will feature Steamworks in both retail copies and digitally distributed versions.

This will include Steam Achievements, DLC, auto-updating, matchmaking and Steam Cloud support.
