| Opening words:
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| Thank you for downloading the first published version of modification
| CNC: Situation Zero for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real time
| strategy game.
|
| The modification has mainly been made by Fincer. However, it contains material
| from other recourses. Please read extra information below.

| Mod author comments:
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Dear Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour fans,
|
| Believe or not, this modification really improves your game experience. There is no such
| modification released for public audience.
| However, let me tell about a developing progress of the modification:
|
| I was always perturbed by a lack of in-game naval units and their disability. As I knew
| their potentials, in autumn 2003 I decided to start modifying the game. After all, the
| first version made the first core purpose: Adding naval units summed up with some extra
| stuff like music tracks and so on.
| In that time, the project was undernamed simply as 'Naval Mod' and the size of a setup
| program was about 40mb - but it wasn't enough.
| So I kept going and during the two initial years I mainly studied to use different and
| usable programs to modify the game. Not forgetting the game code itself.
| In 2006, I made a definitive decision linking the features of the modification
| and, at the same time, thinking the following issue: What unforgivable should this creature
| give for players who would like to have a good playing experience in game they have bought?
| It had to be something that has never earlier been seen in C&C Generals Zero Hour.
|
| Then I got an idea to add completely remade and as realistic flora as it would be possible
| to make in the game with no error messages. As I'm interested in photoshopping, I took
| my digital camera and went out to nature and took photographs of different trees,
| shrubbery etc.
| Finally, when my job was duly completed in nature, I turned on my computer and imported
| the edited photos into their counterpart models and, after that, modeled them into the game.
| My second idea was to remake in-game menu system with new modern-like outfit. So did I
| although it took over half an year to finish.
|
| You can possibly doubt whether I have exploited parts of other public modifications to make
| my own one.
| In fact, I'd like to point out that my modification does NOT use any part of someone's
| modification. There might be used same kind of units or nominations
| but they all are either downloaded from public websites or just coincidences.
|
|
| - For the last words, I hope that you will enjoy the game in maximum quality. It's my
| pleasure to have a chance to share all experience with you! Enjoy the game completely in
| new design! This modification brings all that should have been contained in
| original Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. Let keep the game alive! :)

| Description:
| *Main facts about the modification and important information.
|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| The modification widely modifies the game and adds lots of stuff
| making the game more comfortable to play. It would be too hard to include all the changes
| but the main changes are, however, described in the following part:
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| In-game changes:

| All with their special units and abilities!
| - More challenging Artificial Intelligence (AI). NOTE: This part is
| unfinished and game is NOT able to run it correctly. It might crash preceding slowdown!
| To get better gameplay feeling you should challenge only with/against 3-4 brutal armies.
| The difficulty of AI controlled armies is changed. New challenge classes are found below:
|

|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND ERRORS:
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PROBLEM: The map editor (World Builder) gives me the following message. What should I do?
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| SOLUTION:
|
| ASSERTION FAILURE: should be null
|
| Abort->exception; Retry->debugger; Ignore->continue
|
| This is a habitual message when CNC: Situation Zero modification has
| been installed. Don't worry, you can just ingore it and continue your map making by clicking
| "Continue". World Builder works fine as nothing has happened.
|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PROBLEM: There still are Assertion failure messages or other errors linked to World Builder
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| SOLUTION:
|
| There are many reasons for these problems. You should check that
|
| 1. you don't have other mods installed in Command and Conquer: Generals
| Zero Hour folder.
| 2. If you have too many maps in Command and Conquer Generals Zero
| Hour Data\Maps folder and you are about to istall a new map, it will cause a serious
| error message. To solve the problem, you have to delete MapCache.ini file in Command
| and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps folder and run generals.exe again
| 3. You don't have patch 1.04 installed into Command and Conquer: Generals
| Zero Hour. Be sure that it is in place BEFORE playing and installing the modification
|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PROBLEM: I can't start the game. Only a window titled "Technical Difficulties" is showed up
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| SOLUTION:
|
| 1. Make sure you have correctly installed CNC: Situation Zero in Command and
| Conquer: Generals Zero Hour folder
| 2. There can be too many maps installed in folder "Command and Conquer
| Generals Zero Hour Data/Maps". All you have to do is deleting MapCache.ini
| before running the game. The game will make the file again and if you don't install new maps
| you don't need to delete the file again.
|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PROBLEM: Strange display errors while playing the game
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| SOLUTION:
|
| It seems that the modification appears some graphical errors. There are several
| possible reasons for that:
|
| 1. The mod replaces some models, sounds and code parts which are used by the normal game.
| Reading these similar files in two different places may lead the game to give an error message.
| Only solution for that is replacing/removing every similar files so there would exist
| only a single file except for two similars ones.
| It hasn't been done in the modification because of size.
| 2. You don't have enough good computer. The modification need more effecient computer than
| the original game does.
| 3. Your computer or graphic card is overheated
| 4. Command and Conquer: Generals Zero Hour just can't run a modification
| of this large very well
| 5. Other unexpected issues that make you unable to play the game. If you simply could not
| run the game modification installed, you should unistall it following the instructions
| displayed above.
