Counter-Strike: Global Offensive release date window, screenshots revealed

Valve has announced that the next-generation of the mega-popular multiplayer team shooter, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will be coming out this Summer for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The publisher also released some screenshots showing off the new engine, in one level that apparently takes place in a suburban setting.

Valve has decided to delay the open beta of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, thanks to feedback from veteran Counter-Strike gamers. The beta had been scheduled to launch this past October.

Valve's Chet Faliszek says there's a theory it's "lousy computers" keeping Counter-Strike 1.6 strong, but it's because players "like the skillset, the set of rules".

Those 'core tenants' stay with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which Valve is making for new players to ease into, as 12-year-old CS 1.6 "looks like crap."

Valve's Chet Faliszek has confirmed that the upcoming beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will not be coming to the PS3 or the 360.

Despite the sequel to the 2000 cult classic being multi-platform, Faliszek stated that the company doesn't want to do a beta for the console.

The Reticule's Chris Evans, in an interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek, is reporting that a closed PC beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be starting in early October.
