Darksiders II follows the exploits of DEATH, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a weaving tale that runs parallel to the events in the original Darksiders game. This epic journey propels DEATH through various light and dark realms as he tries to redeem his brother WAR, the horseman who was blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.

|Former EVP of core games at THQ, Danny Bilson, recounts his time at the now extinct publisher, saying it was "brilliant at what it did" from 1991 to 2007 making a fortune for themselves and investors.
There were "legacy issues" which plagued the company, slowing them down. They went from casual and licensed titles to AAA but were "shutting studios the whole time," says Bilson.

|Vigil Games co-founder and lead designer for Darksiders 1 & 2 has told Nordic via the publisher's forums that any future title in the series should be adventurous, and explore those other horsemen comets.
Lead combat designer Ben Cureton implores them to stick with "fast-paced combat, the sense of scale, quality voice acting," and making Strife and Fury "BADASS" - or sell the IP to Crytek.
