Vigil Games explains lack of Darksiders II multiplayer
Vigil Games stated that Darksiders III will feature four player co-op, but were vague about why it wasn't being included in Darksiders II. Director Marvin Donald went into depth about why in an IGN interview.

Darksiders II won't even be released til 2012, but developer Vigil already is making plans for Darksiders III, and one of the things they want to add to the series is four player co-op, with all of the Four Horsemen together.

THQ has officially announced Darksiders II for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC for 2012. The game follows the Devil May Cry-style 3D beat'em up utilizing the mythology of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.

A host of tweets have been coming regarding the unveiling of the previously unannounced Darksiders 2 at E3 2011. All that was rumored about the game was that it was in development and that it would have a new protagonist while the game was set concurrently with the first one.
