Rumour: EA's Darkspore not March bound as retailers list May
It would seem the retailers know something we mere mortal consumers don't as they've switched out March 29th for Darkspore with dates in May.
Gamestop pegs it for May 3rd and Amazon says May 31st. Darkspore is a sci-fi action RPG based loosely on the Spore universe. No word from EA yet.

A new developer diary trailer of Maxis' Darkspore - the Spore-inspired action RPG - has announced the official PC release date as March 29th.
It's a loot grind fest in the spirit of Diablo with the creativity of the limb-laden Spore. We can upgrade our hero creature. There's co-op and PvP arenas too.

EA has announced the official release date for Spore's darker cousin, Darkspore, which infuses action-RPG into Maxis' gene-splicing formula.
The news broke not in a formal press release but on the EA forums. Maxis teased more assets would be spilling between now and then to delight us.

The sci-fi action-RPG Darkspore from Maxis, creators of Spore, will feature PvP gameplay modes to do battle with 'customized and upgraded' heroes.

BioWare not with Maxis' Darkspore

EA has landed the 'Hammer of Dispel' on the rumour that BioWare is in cahoots with Maxis on the upcoming RPG Darkspore, based off Spore.
It is in fact an ex-BioWare writer, who briefly worked on Mass Effect 2, that is at Maxis and that's "the extent of it," affirm EA. Darkspore is all Maxis.
