Dead Space 3 harbours item exploit for in-game resources

EA's decision to include micro-transactions for Dead Space 3, where you can pay real money for in-game resources, has been effectively circumvented by an item exploit found by gamers.

Exercising a little patience can top up your resources, avoiding the micro-transaction system. Exiting and re-entering a specific room causes the glitch, which spawns a random resource.

Electronic Arts has released a press release announcing the launch of Dead Space 3, and have confirmed the first downloadable content for the game, Awakened, which will be landing in March.

The PC version of Dead Space 3 has been defended by executive producer Steve Papoutsis. To him it's "confusing" when asked if they're optmising for PC - it's "very different" but 'no less important'.

Visceral has "always made console games," and their biggest goal is to deliver a quality "consistent across all platforms" without one userbase "saying it's better on their system." Bad news for PC?

Visceral Games has revealed some detail about their Weapons Bench mechanic in Dead Space 3, which uses resource materials scavenged throughout the game to build up a player's arsenal.

Some players are "accustomed" to micro-transactions, and the ability to pay real money for the resources fulfills their 'need for instant gratification'. It's all "completely optional" to the player.

Speaking with developer Visceral Games at a Dead Space 3 event, games.on.net reports that the PC version of the horror action title doesn't carry much of a blowtorch for desktop gaming.

There is no DirectX 11 support which means there's certainly no higher resolution textures, or other enhancements to be enjoyed over Xbox 360 or PS3. Some graphics settings will be available.
