Blizzard axes companion pets and reforging scrolls in Diablo III

Last week, Blizzard revealed some of the major changes and cuts they'd made late in their development of Diablo III. Apparently, they haven't stopped slashing features, as it has been announced that they've axed companion pets and scrolls of reforging.

Diablo III creative director Jay Wilson announced on the official Diablo III site that the development team has been making numerous changes to the action-RPG. The post was a way to show the publisher's policy of polishing their games to a fine sheen before releasing them. According to Wilson, "Our job isn't just to put out a game, it's to release the next Diablo game. No one will remember if the game is late, only if it's great. We trust in our ability to put out a great game, but we're not quite there yet."

Blizzard drops Diablo III real-money auction house feature in South Korea

The one feature that troubled the South Korean ratings classification board has been removed for Diablo III - at least for the version being released in that region. The board was concerned that being able to receive real money from the auction house, effectively allowing players to "cash out", constituted online gambling.

Blizzard backs off Diablo III console 'confirmation', states no development has started

Blizzard has backed off the apparent confirmation of Diablo III for console systems. The publisher is now stating that Josh Mosqueira is not actually the lead designer for a console version of the action-RPG in development, but merely exploring the possibility of a console version.

The initial assumption of confirmation came when Michah Whiple tweeted "Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project" when asked if Blizzard was working on a console version of Diablo III.
