Sega and developer Creative Assembly reveal their ambition for Shogun 2: Total War is to achieve greater depth with much less global scope.
Basically that means by focusing on only Japanese shores they can "immerse" in the culture of the period, and it can be "a thing of beauty".

Following all the rumour and the leaked fact sheet, publisher Sega concedes defeat and confirms Creative Assembly's Shogun 2: Total War.
It will hit PC exclusively next year with a smaller but 'more personal' scope. It's all about feudal Japan and rival warlords. It's in pre-alpha stage.

The brand new Total War from long-time strategy veterans Creative Assembly is to be Shogun II: Total War according to an appointment leak.
Already we've learnt that the new Total War would be "returning to its roots" by leaving gunpowder behind. Looks like it's the samurai again?

Creative Assembly is to announce a brand new Total War instalment at this year's E3 event, and it appears they're hurtling back in time "to basics."
There'll be no magical boom dust, otherwise known as gunpowder, to clear those fields of battle if reports are accurate. Could Rome be sacked again?
