DUST 514 "deepest shooter", "richest universe ever conceived"

EVE Online developer CCP says their DUST 514 MMO spin-off is heading for PlayStation 3 because of "Sony's willingness" to work with them on the MMO.

This latest project was "inconceivable not too long ago," as DUST 514 is an MMO that "feeds into another" on a different platform, which is EVE Online on PC.

CCP developing technology for next-generation consoles and PC hardware

Thor Gunnarsson, CCP's vice-president of business development, has revealed that the firms Newcastle division is building new technologies for next-generation consoles and PC hardware, with the project going into "full capacity soon".

Speaking with Develop, Gunnarsson said that CCP Newcastle was primarily working on optimising the PlayStation 3 exclusive Dust 514, which is being built with the Unreal Engine.

A new developer blog post for EVE Online details some of the fixes for the MMO and what the studio are doing "moving forward". Captain's Quarters will toggle.

EVE Online peace shattered, again

The EVE Online peace treaty between the player-run Council of Stellar Management and CCP Games has been shattered by outspoken chairman of CSM Alexander Gianturco , who declared that the core gameplay of EVE Online was abandoned and that "the gloves are off".

Gianturco, aka "The Mittani" declared on his site, "We will not stand idly by as an alliance while our subscription money goes to waste, watching the game we pay to play spiraling into entropy due to the folly and neglect of CCP's management. It is not yet time to start a fire, but get your gasoline ready."

CCP creative producer Thomas Farrer has big plans for the marriage of PC space simulation MMO EVE Online with PlayStation 3 third-person shooter Dust 514, which will be a unique experience as players in Dust 514 can take on jobs from EVE Online corporations or even join them, with the reverse being true: players in Dust 514 can start their own corporations, with EVE Online players able to join them.
