Fable: The Lost Chapters Hints, Tips

Hint: Fire Heart quest puzzle solution

Use the following screenshots to solve the puzzle. Note: #44 and #55 are included as there were two different version. There are five puzzles in total. All solutions turn square in Sun -- no prophet dies.

Easy Money

Due to the simplicity of the in-game economics, anybody with a decent Guile score (around 3 or so) and a half an ounce of patience will be able to buy anything in half an hour.
The easiest target for this cheat is the guy in Bowerstone South right next to the entrance. Buy out all of his potions (health, will and resurection philes). The more of these items you have, the faster you make money. About 25 of each (except res. philes, you can only have 9 of them) is the best to start with. Since the price of each item is based on how many the vendor has in stock, when he has none, he'll pay a fortune and when he has a lot, he'll sell them cheap. You don't even have to stop talking to him. Just make sure that when you sell, you hit the sell all button because selling in chunks drops his buying price. Once you've sold them all, buy them back all at once at his reduced price and repeat the process.

I discovered this cheat with a little over 9,000 gold earned the hard way, and in 10 minutes I had 100,000 gold. I then visited every shop I could find, bought the store out of their potions (wound up with about 230 health and will) and in another 10 minutes of exploitation, I had 700,000 gold. If you can get a bunch of wedding rings, you can speed up your profit level even faster with that same shmoe in bowerstone south.

Hint: Easy Strength experience

When you fight Jack Of Blades for the first time (physical form) and defeat him, you will receive two options of what to do with the Sword Of Aeons. You can kill his sister or cast it into the dark void. Rather than doing this, go into the weapons menu and take out another weapon (a stronger one preferably) and start attacking his sister with it. She cannot die and your combat multiplier goes up tremendously. Continue doing this to earn a lot of strength experience.

Hint: Easy Will experience

Note: You must have at least 100 Will Potions and Lightning mastered, as well as mana capacity. Go to Archon's Shrine and go to the frozen lake with all of the Wraiths (Icy Undead) walking on it. Use Lightning on one of the Wraiths and the lightning will jump to the other ones. Do this until all of them are dead, then go onto another frozen lake with trees on it. Go as far as you can go in that area, then return to the lake you were at before. All of the Wraiths will have respawned. Keep your distance and kill them with Lightning again. When your combat multiplier reaches about 100, drink some experience potions. Whether you drink them or not, you will still get more than 100,000 Will experience out of it, as well as a lot of general experience. This takes a lot of time, but it is worth it.

Hint: Avo's Tear

When you are able to choose the Sword Of Aeons at the end of the game, throw it into the vortex. When you fight Jack Of Blades again in his dragon form, choose to destroy the mask. Then, go back to the guild and go to the place just outside mazes quarters, where the fountain is located. Read all of the little stones. One of them will give you Avo's Tear. Avo's Tear has mana, health, experience augmentations on it.

Hint: Archon Shrine: Easy experience

Go to Archon Shrine after you have talked to Scythe at Snowspire Village. There should be a number of Balverines and Undead, or just Undead. Go to the area to the left of the cullis gate and go up the hill. Then, go back down and take out your bow. It is recommended to have mastered Multi Arrow and Accuracy, but this is not required. Use Multi Arrow and shoot the enemies. It is possible to get over 400,000 experience points for Skill in a few minutes. Your combat multiplier should also increase to over 200.

Hint: Arena: Do not kill whisper but still get the reward money

When you have taken her down and the intermission sequence with Jack Of Blades telling you to give Whisper one more hit for the prize money plays, away your weapon and punch her. Then, run out the open Arena doors. Whisper should remain alive and Jack Of Blades will still give you the prize money.

Hint: Bowerstone North: Overthrow Lady Grey

We all know Lady Grey killed her sister, Amanda. Use the following trick to become mayor of Bowerstone North. When you first arrive at Bowerstone North, after you complete the Arena, you will be greeted by a guard who says that there is a raving lunatic locked up in the jailhouse and not to talk to him. Talk to him. He says that he wants to overthrow Lady Gray. Agree to his plan. First, talk to the man that is by the Demon Door in Barrow Fields. He will tell you that he used to flash the lamp three times out by the stables by the Grey house to have Amanda go to see him there. Go to the Grey House and do that. An intermission sequence that shows Amanda's spirit walking to the cellar will play. Go to the cellar and listen to Amanda's sprit. Lady Grey will find you after you talk to Amanda. Refuse her request to marry her. Return to Bowerstone North and talk to the guard that talked to you earlier. He will ask if you want to be mayor. Say "Yes" and you will become mayor of Bowerstone North.

Hint: Darkwood Lake: Easy sex

Go to the Darkwood Bordello with a spade. Dig up the deed to the bordello under the tree to the left when you first enter the area. You are now the owner of your own bordello. Talk to any of the call girls and they will have sex with you for free. Note: This will only work as long as you do not dedicate the bordello to a house for fallen girls.

Hint: Greatwood Caves: Cutlass Bluetane

First, go to Twinblade's camp and get as many bandits to follow you as possible. Lead them through Darkwood to the Greatwood Caves where the Demon Door is found. Slow Time and Assassin Rush are a must in Darkwood so they do not die. When you get to Greatwood Caves, Slow Time and kill the Earth Troll or the Hobbes (depending on if you have done the Rose Cottage side quest). You must get a combat multiplier of +14 for the Demon Door to open. Once you have killed either the Hobbes or Earth troll, start attacking bandits. As soon as your combat multiplier is high enough, run over to the door and talk to it. Once through the door, you will find the Cutlass Bluetane, which has a lightning augmentation and does 165 damage.

Hint: Necropolis: Archon's Battle Armor

Collect 25 silver keys, then unlock the silver key chest in the Necropolis. You will unlock Archon's Battle Armor. It is strongest armor in the game.

Hint: Oakvale: Easy money and early higher skill

Go to Oakvale and buy every emerald in the shop. Look at the next delivery and sleep for the amount of time needed for the store to restock. Keep doing this until you have about 90 emeralds. Note: Make sure to buy all the emeralds in stock at once, so that you will buy them for less gold pieces. Once you have 90 emeralds, sell them to the shop, then buy them back.. You should be able to sell them again for much more than you bought them for. It is possible to get 1,000,000 gold pieces in ten minutes. This also gives you a lot of skill.

Hint: Rose Cottage: Unlimited Silver Keys

This trick requires a spade. First, take the Hobbe Cave Quest and go to the Rose Cottage. Walk to the circle of flowers near the house. Use your spade and dig up a Silver Key. You can also get 500 gold each time you do this if desired, by cutting the thorns and opening the treasure chest. However, you will get Evil points. Then, do a hero save and then load the saved game again. You should appear out of the Rose Cottage area. You can repeat this as many times as desired. If you want to get unlimited keys throughout the game, do not finish the quest. You can keep going back and getting the Silver Key.

Hint: Snowspire Village: Fire Assassin Armor

Search all the houses in Snowspire Village. Go through the bookcases, and cupboards and you may find some Fire Assassin Armor.

Hint: Witchwood: Unlimited items

Use the following trick to get unlimited Master Health Elixirs, Will Master Elixirs, Silver Keys, or anything else that can be found in chests, Demon Doors, etc. In order to do this, do not pick up any Silver Keys or do any Demon Doors throughout the game until you get to "Find the archeologist" quest. It is your first quest in Witchwood. Accept the quest, then go to Witchwood. Go to every place that contains a Silver Key, potion, or item desired. Get all the keys, potions, items, etc. then Hero Save. Load the game, go to Witchwood, and repeat.

Hint: Unlimited Silver Keys

Note: Along with Silver Keys, you can also gain experience points (around 60,000 per), a Silver Augmentation, and gold with this trick. When you reach The Graveyard Path quest, talk to the Gravedigger as usual. Remember to get the Ages Of Skill Potion from the cabinet in the Gravedigger's Shack. Once inside the graveyard, find the mausoleum in the south part of the map. Inside the tomb you will find the first of three Silver Keys. In a grave to the right just outside, you can dig up the second. To the left, you will see a fishing spot where you can pull up the third. While making your way through the graveyard, keep your Physical Shied active (the higher level the better) to keep your Combat Multiplier from dropping. Once you have cleared the graveyard of all the other items you can get 1,500 gold scattered, two Health potions, a Will potion and some tattoos. Finish gathering Nostro's Armor, Sword, Shield, and Helmet. You can then move on to the Old Graveyard path. Make sure your Physical Shield is still on and that your Mana at least two thirds charged. Note: Mana will not regenerate while Physical Shied is active. Once inside, you will be swarmed with undead. Using whatever means desired (melee is easiest due to the number; if you decide to use Flame spells watch your Mana level), dispatch all the undead. Using Physical Shield, it is easy to get your multiplier around 50 or greater. Use the Ages Of Skill Potion when your Multiplier is at its peak, along with any other Ages Of Potions you have been saving. You can go as far as the door to The Circle Of The Dead (where you can grab a Silver Augmentation to use or sell from the chest to the left of the door). You can enter the Circle Of The Dead, but unless you time it well the quest will end. Once you have your Silver Keys, gold, and experience, go to the start menu and Hero Save the game. Load your Hero Save and you will be back at Headman's Hill with the three Silver Keys, about 60,000 in General Experience (along with whatever Attribute Skill you used to kill the Undead), a Silver Augmentation, and gold. You can do this any number of times. You can walk out with 25 Silver Keys in no time. With 25 Silver Keys you can now open the Silver Key Chest at the Heroes' Guild training area and get the Legendary Murren Greathammer. This melee weapon has an Experience Augmentation installed. You do not have to use the weapon -- just have it equipped to gain the benefits of the augmentation. If you have trouble finding Silver Keys, or anticipate needing some later, this is a good way to get the 30 you will need to open the Silver Key Chest at the Lost Bay.

Hint: Dragon Soul sword

After receiving the quest card for Lady Grey, go to Bowerstone North during the day. Before talking to anyone, go into the only shop in this side of town. If you are good enough, the shop owner will have the Dragon Soul sword for sale. The Dragon Soul sword was once used by the general of the Dragon Knights and has a 350 damage.

Hint: Skorm's Bow

Go to Twinblade's camp. Get as many bandits to follow you as possible. Then, hire the mercenary at the camp. Lead them to Oakvale, then hire the mercenary near the cemetery. You will need Slow Time and Assassin Rush for this part. When you go towards the Chapel of Skorm, Slow Time, then Assassin Rush to the next area so they will not get killed. Make sure it is about midnight. Save the game then start sacrificing. It will say that it was not a good donation, but do not worry. Keep donating until you are out of followers. Note: If it gets near dawn, use a Golden Carrot, then a Moonfish. Do not sacrifice during daylight.

Hint: Defeating Earth and Rock Trolls

When the troll appears, use the Assassin Rush to get behind it. Use Multi Strike repeatedly to hurt it. When the troll uses its attack to knock you away, before it hits the ground use Assassin Rush again. If done correctly, you will not be damaged, however the hero will flash red as if you were hit.

Hint: Defeating the Fist Fighters

Use the following trick to win a Fist Fighters match without throwing a single punch. Go to Twinblade's bandit camp. Get as many bandits to follow you as you desired. Join the Fist Fighters gang and the bandits will slice them to pieces for you. Note: This will not work on the final Fist Fighters gang, because bandits cannot teleport. Also, mercenaries will not fight for you; only the bandits will.

Hint: Get both Dark Wizard and Bright Wizard hats

Do not pick up any books until you get to the Find The Archaeologist quest. Start the quest, then teleport to Bowerstone South. Get the following books and donate them to the school: A Love Story, The Pale Balverine, The Tale of Maxley, The Tale of Twinblade, Eyes of a Killer, The Guild of Zeroes, The Repentant Alchemist, The Sock Method, and You Are Not a Bad Person. These can all be found in Bowerstone South. If you do not find all of them, go to the guild and Hero save the game. Then, search the book shelves for those books. Once you have all of those books, donate them to the school. You should now have the Dark Wizard Hat. Hero save the game. Load your game. Start the Find the Archaeologist quest. Then, get any books other than those and donate them. You will get a Bright Wizard hat. You have now both hats and can get the Bright Wizard suit from Rose Cottage, and the Dark Wizard suit form Darkwood Marsh.

Hint: Get better summoned creatures

Get the Summon spell at any level. Go somewhere where there is a high level monster or the monster you want for your summon. Get out your melee weapon, and hit it until it becomes unconscious (it will sway, and a little star will fly around its head). Then, summon your creature. Hit the monster with your fist, not your weapon, and allow your summoned creature finish it off. If the monster kills your summon, re-summon it until it kills the monster. When the monster falls, it will glow blue, and your summon creature will become the monster that just died.

Hint: Recommended weapon

If you buy the Soulus Greatsword, you will see that it is much stronger than the Sword Of Aeons.

Hint: Forever young

During the "Find The Archaeologist" quest, you can submit about 50,000 gold to the Temple of Avo and obtain five to ten years of youth. Hero Save and go back and do this all over again. A lot of gold will be required. Leave some experience points for other level ups, because the effect will not be seen until you level up a few skills, World Save, and reload the game. If you have the experience points and master the last of your skills, you should be young forever.

Hint: Sleep with wife without too much flirting

Do the following after getting a house and a wife. Take your wife to your bed and flirt until she asks if you want to go to bed. Say "Yes" and watch or skip the "act". Then, have your wife "Follow" you and just wait by the bed. After about one or two minutes, your wife will ask you again if you want to go to bed. Say "Yes". As long as you stay by the bed, you will not have to flirt and your wife will do all the asking.

Hint: Getting away with murder

At night, sneak into someone's house (do not slash the door). Either pick the lock or go in at dusk before the doors close. Go in and kill the people who live there when no one is looking, except them. Quickly kill them and run out of the house. You will not be charged with murder and you will be able to buy the house. This will not work every time. If you get caught, either reload the game or use your Guild Seal and teleport away.

Hint: Easy theft

To steal anything in most shops, get a lot of beer from the tavern. Give it to the shop owner you want to steal from. It usually takes about three or four beers to keep them drunk. When they start swaying and blubbering, push them out of the shop. You are now free to steal anything desired while the shopkeeper wanders around. Be aware of your surroundings; some people might walk in if they are attracted to you. They will stay drunk for about three or four minutes, giving you plenty of time to pillage.

Hint: Easy kills

This trick requires you to have maxed out the Fireball skill. You can press [Shift] and click the fireball. Hold it until it reaches maximum strength. Once it hits the ground it blows up, knocking the targets down and killing them. Then, go to the desired target. When you see the blue highlight, let it go at the target. It will hit the ground, killing the guards. You will not get warned or have to pay any-fines. If you do this to a person, be careful -- once you kill them, their house will become available for purchase.

Hint: See both endings

To get both sides of the endings and after stories, save the game before battling Jack Of Blades. Save just before you enter the big gates that lead you to the last battle, so that you can choose at the end both to keep his mask or to destroy it. Do not skip the credits. Afterwards, save the game again, but in a different file. You can then load the game before you fight Jack Of Blades and do all of this again. You now have a choice between real evil or good, and have people either screaming and running away in your presence, or have have them bowing at your feet.

Hint: YMCA dance

Near the end of the game once you get the glyphs of inquiry, assign the four expressions you gain to up, down , left, and right. Put up your weapon, then use the expressions in the order "Y", "M", "C", "A".

Hint: Continue game play

After you kill Jack of Blades for the second time, watch the credits. After they end, your character will start out in front of the Bronze gate, and not the main menu. However, you will be wearing Jack of Blades mask, if that is what you decided.
