Square Enix profits plummet 76.6%, Kane & Lynch 2 clear million

Publisher Square Enix has reported a huge drop in sales and earnings for the nine months leading to December 31st. Profits fell sharply by 76.6 percent.

The good news is that Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 each managed over a million sales during those three quarters.

Newly installed director Naoki Yoshida of Final Fantasy XIV Online reveals in an interview that his favourite in the series is FFVII for its "impact you never forget."

It's that kind of atmosphere that FFXIV needs to survive. Eorzea needs to feel it has 'untold wonder' to be a 'true' Final Fantasy in boss Yoshida-san's eyes.

Square-Enix reports 91% less revenue

Square-Enix is reporting that it expects to have a 91% drop in yearly revenue, thanks to the delay of Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the next fiscal period, and the dreadful performance of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy XIV Online mid-December update goes live today

Square Enix has announced the planned mid-December update for MMO Final Fantasy XIV Online is set to become available today, December 15th.

The studio also revealed the content for the update which includes new monsters to battle, new recipes, better market ward naming and better UI.

PS3 FFXIV delays, PC trial extends

Yet again Square Enix has delayed the launch of PS3 Final Fantasy XIV and the PC version of the MMO already out gets its trial period extended by 90 days.

The studio don't want a "simple conversion" from Windows to PS3 so they'll take more time. The dev team has been restructured among the higher ups.
