UbiSoft digital publishing manager Thomas Paincon revealed in an interview that the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions of From Dust sold over 500K units, as the manager discussed UbiSoft's preference of releasing games on digital platforms to retail releases.

Indie videogame designer Eric Chahi, creator of From Dust, has dished about his own take on the god game simulator and how Lionhead's Peter Molyneux gave it a "true compliment."

The Populous creator said From Dust was the "first god game he's played," referring to its fully morphable world. It was "hard work" and there are no sequel plans in motion.

PC From Dust patched offline

Ubisoft has released their PC patch for From Dust through Steam and now it no longer requires Uplay to function, and save game files are localised.

This basically removes Ubisoft's always-on DRM system from the game, as it no longer demands verification via the Internet each time From Dust starts.

Ubisoft has released their list of showcase games for PAX Prime, suggesting that it's their biggest lineup ever for PAX, and they're not kidding. The games they'll be bringing over are some of the hottest games from the company.

Patch in "approximately two weeks" will remove From Dust DRM

Ubisoft "sincerely apologize" for the mix up regarding the online authentication requirement for From Dust, despite saying it didn't need it before it went on sale.

Now Ubisoft is "working on a patch" that should be out in 2 weeks or so that will "eliminate" the need to authenticate completely. From Dust will be "100% offline."
