Strategy Informer  

You are Gordon Freeman, or, as only a few people know, Roland Blackheart, a
SAS officer with legendary skills. You were working for a foreign government,
after you had been sacked from your original posting for disobeying orders.
Your first job was going to the Black Mesa complex undercover as a research
scientist. Your superiors
had news of a stolen meteor sample that had been smuggled to the Black
Mesa complex. It was your job to get it back. After it all goes wrong
you manage to escape alive, and unknown to your commanders, you give in
to your conscious and decide to help the pleas of the scientists.
Unaware of your identity, a government agent recruits you at the end of
the story, to work again for the SAS.
After the government agent recruits you, you sit back and relax at
the SAS headquarters. After
a few months of well deserved relaxation, as well as writing not so
relaxing detailed reports about your escape from Black Mesa, you're
just about to get some sleep, when the corporal strides
in and promptly informs you that you have been selected for a top
secret mission, and that he will see you in the conference room at
once. Upon arriving at the table, you see the head of intelligence,
and the director of secret operations, as well as your old friend
Mc Hamish. You sit at the table, and the director briefs you on the
situation."Over the past few months been getting increasing reports of strange
activity around the Kalahari desert, Botswana, Africa. Locals have
been reporting strange sounds coming from underground, in an area
we know to be a terrorist strong hold.
Nearby are the research labs of Chiang ltd, and we
suspect they have been conducting illegal genetic experiments, in what we
expect to be research into cloning huge, possibly non-human armies.
We also have reason to suspect there is a huge underground complex,
where Chiang can hide from the world in safety, because he is
wanted for numerous murders, drug trafficking and illegal
arms trading.
Yesterday, satellites picked up a large explosion, and we think
whatever they're doing in there has gone seriously wrong.
Your mission is to airdrop into the nearby area by Chiang research ltd.
and infiltrate one of their secure supply passages. You will be
accompanied by Mc Hamish here, and also one of our technical experts,
to break into their security systems. They will take you as far as one
of the main nodes, and then you'll go it alone. Also, if you happen to
see Chiang himself during your reconnaissance, do everyone a favour and blow
him away, as he is the one that is masterminding the whole operation.
You will be issued with the standard issue silenced handgun, just perfect
for picking off enemies without drawing other attention. This is a high
risk mission Freeman, but after all you've been through, we think you have
the experience for this one. We want you to collect information about their situation, and get out
again, alive. If you are compromised, you'll have to fight your way out
again. Do you accept this mission, Mr Freeman?
"You stop to think about this, and remember all the monsters that terrorised
you and your scientist friends, and how they almost took over Earth. You shudder at
the thought - no way were you going to let these genetic freaks take over
your planet. Also, secretly, you wanted revenge against these barstards that
were messing with nature and screwing everything up.
"Sir"
"Yes Mr Freeman?"
"I'll do it"
