Overview
Milk Carton is a Source-engine based multiplayer mod featuring extensive weapon customization. So extensive that is does not even customize existing weapons but allows the player to create their own guns.
Custom Guns
Each weapon is made up of many different components which the player can mix and match to create his "own" weapon. The end result of the composition is represented in gameplay by detailed simulation of accuracy, weight, ammo capacity, recoil, reliability and ammo selection.
A major part of the gameplay desing is to allow the player to be smart or stupid. There are no specific restrictions to which parts can be mixed, however realistic consequences of bad designs are present, which presents many different variations:
Go for the conservative 9mm pistol with a light polymer frame and some armor piercing bullets? Or grab a heavy frame and load it with .454 Casull rounds? Or save money and load those .454 into a cheaper, lighter frame because you really want to spend more on gadgets and see what happens when unreasonable amounts of firepower are packed into a gun frame that just was not made for it (The gun might break).
