This is mod would be by far one of the greatest things to ever happen to people with DirectX7, why? Well, do you want cool effects that your graphics card can't do because it is an old piece of trash? If so this mod is for you! This fine mod will add a shine to your currently dull looking Half-life 2 game, how? After weeks of struggle I came up with this type of emulation done through messing with Half-life 2's materials. Once i got an idea of what I was doing I started to not fiddle, but take my quick found knowledge of what differnt values and and codes do in the materials and use it to my advantage, how did I as a cheap basterd do in this despirate scenario? Well I think that question is better off for you to decide in my gallery.
Here is a checklist of what is complete
-------------------------------------------------
HL2DM 100% - The stun stick and S.L.A.M. look great, as seen in the gallery
Weapon Models 100% - Might be touched up along the way but they look great currently
Enemy Models 100% - Might be touched up along the way but they look great currently
Vehicles 100% - All vehicles including combine ones (Ex. Combine apc, Which looks fantastic)
Npcs -100% - This is pretty much just the shining up of the G-mans Deadly briefcase
Random Models 10% - originaly not planned but what the heck i've done good, why stop now?
One Word of warning to some, this is not the same thing you would see in DirectX8 or 9 becuase it is not specular, therefore dont get excited if it doesn't look like it should on higher DirectX levels, other than that those like me who dont have DirectX8 or 9 will be very pleased, as it is a cool new effect with no performance cost, well atleast not for me. By the way if your wondering im using a radeon 7000 64mb and 256 mb ram and 1.7 amd 2100+ processor.
