- Ever since Halo: Combat Evolved's iconic opening scene, featuring the descent of the Pillar of Autumn towards the alien ring world known as Halo, the vehicles and spacecraft of Halo have featured heavily in the plot, settings and cinematics of Bungie's masterpiece series. While the games follow the UNSCDF's fight from a ground-side perspective, there is always a back drop that the war is being waged on two fronts - While the infantry and vehicles of both factions clash on the ground, their monumental warships clash for supremacy in orbit, kilometer long vessels battling their counterparts in titanic, decisive conflicts that often decide the fate of the planet below them.
We bring you the chance to experience Halo from space, in orbit and the stars. Command warships that stretch for kilometers and field dozens of weapons, nimble frigates which dip and weave in combat against their counter parts and strafe larger ships, heavily specialised carriers able to dispatch dozens of fighters or drones, or explore more specialised, exotic weapons.
Play as either the slow, steady and economically minded UNSC, or the heavily armed and agile Covenant. Both sides will be polar to each other, providing a very varied experience.
Play on maps featuring key Halo locations and backdrops - Earth, Reach, Onyx and even the Halo rings them selves.
New UI features, new music, new voices, new ships - We intend to replace as much as we can from the vanilla homeworld 2 experience.
A tailored, well rounded game - our vision isn't simply to bring Halo to Homeworld 2, but to make a game that is fun, balanced and within reason. We are not including things such as the flood, the Covenant supercarrier, "hero" units, the forerunner dreadnought or sentinels. In addition to this, the "new" UNSC, Covenant, and any enemies from the new halo trilogy can be counted in that list.
Revival of multiplayer and competative play - while we do provide an excelent AI in skirmish, our goal is for Homefront to be played against other humans. To this end, we will be supporting an online player community as much as we possibly can. This also means that we do not currently plan on a campaign.
Ship designs and unit choices that are more dictated by gameplay than simply following canon for the sake of canon. HHF is Halo based, but we don't follow canon like sheep, especially when it comes to ship design. If we feel we can improve on something, we will.
