I just got here

Time to fire those reviers who are so far too incompetent to write the articles about TBS games

Actually, last morning I bought the Russian version of Galactic Assault: Prisoner of Power. So my first impressions: This game is veritable heir of Massive Assault. Visually it feels like real-time strategy, but in fact, it's turn-based. The core of the game is one huge campaign, based on the science fiction universe created by the Strugatsky brothers, who are extremely popular in Russia. You will view the scenario gameplay as Panzer General-like, but with about 70 unique unit types including various kinds of infantry, armor, artillery, aviation, reconnaissance, ships and boats, submarines, transports, super-weapons, hypno-transmitters... Seems like the game has plenty of attractive features - appealing 3D graphics rivaling that of Heroes of Might and Magic V, various game modes, a state of the art interface. The environment in the game looks really natural, and it is extremely rich in variety of factors that make a huge impact upon the gameplay. For instance, the deserts and forests slow down the movement of ground units, and the swamps are an impassable type of terrain for most units, with the exception of infantry. One more interesting fact is that the heights play the crucial role in the game since they extend the firing range of artillery units. Furthermore, the steep slops are impassible for all mechanized units, and only infantry are able to reach the summit. Weather conditions and the time of day also influence the movement and sight range of all units. The combat system is more of the Panzer General type; opposing units fire simultaneously if they are within each other's range. Plus, artillery in range automatically gives fire support to friendly units being attacked.
