Jumpgate is a Massively Multiplayer Game that combines elements of space combat as well as trading and resource management. The player choses one of the five factions: Amananth, Hyperial, Octavius, Quantar, and Solrain. By means of selling his services, trading with orbital trading posts and reaping the spoils of war through space combat the player advances through the game. Numerous weapons and ship upgrades are available. JumpGate contains over 30 resource types such as minerals, chemicals, or medicine. The player may even mine asteroids in search of minerals and other valuable substances. Players may form squadrons or alliances. They can play as traders, fighters or aspire to become business tycoons. New story elements, ships, and weapons can be incorporated into the game at any time. In essence Jumpgate delivers an open-ended gaming arena in which the participants determine the storyline.
