4. How to Play
Aligning the colored tips of the two arrows of the compass in the upper left
hand corner will always guide you to your current objective
Use the Map (default = "M") to see your current objectives, which will appear
green on the map. Individuals in the squad are in red.
Use the F1 - F4 keys (or the Tab key) to cycle through your squad. Practice
positioning squad mates in strategic locations, then issuing the "hold
position" command to execute complex strategies.
You need to be relatively close to your squad mates in order for them to "hear"
You can continue the mission until all of your squad members are wounded and
To complete a mission all of your players must reach the 'end' of the playing
area and be there together for the mission to end.
Try Cooperative mode. The mission objectives are the same as single player but
your squad mates are played by real people. You can also play RedonBlue
versions of the game. Note that Mission mode and RedonBLue work better in some
maps than others. Try these modes first in Mission1a.
To play, one player Hosts a game from the Multiplayer menu. Other players
RedonBlue: Two or more teams square off with only one goal in mind too
eliminate the other team. The game will end when either time has run out of
time or one of the teams has reached the predetermined number of kills. Players
can also chose a free-for-all (FFA) match where it’s every man for themselves
and the player with the most points at the end of the round or scores the set
number of kills is the winner.
Co-op: In Co-op mode groups of players play the single player missions with
real people instead of your computer controlled partners.
Mission based: In this mode two teams will actually play out the single player
missions on opposite sides. One team will play the part of the good guys
(offense) while the other team plays the side of the bad guys (defense). The
mission objectives will stay the same as the single player game but with the
added bonus of real people on both sides.
5. OPTIONS settings
A. Gameplay Options
Difficulty - This option adjusts things like damage taken, accuracy of shots
and intelligence of enemies.
Damage Realism - By default the game uses a semi-realistic damage model where
one bullet in the right place can kill someone (including the player). Setting
this to arcade makes the game easier to play where it takes many shots before
someone dies which is helpful to the player.
Show Command Helper Text - A text message that gives you up to date informs you
of objects that can be picked up and used during the game.
Accuracy Indicators - If enabled, a small red line that expands or contract to
show how accurate you shots will be. Accuracy is lowered when running, walking
or other actions.
Realistic Tracers - Only show tracers for guns that would realistically have
them, rather than all guns.
Show Firing enemy direction - If enabled, when an enemy begins to attack, a
small arrow will point in their direction.
Friendly Fire - Turns on the ability to damage squadmates with friendly fire.
B. Graphic Options
Resolution - Choose your screen resolution. The game will default to an optimal
setting based upon your system. Higher resolutions will require faster hardware
and more resources.
Bit Depth - Sets the bit depth - the game runs faster in 16-bit mode but looks
better using the 32-bit mode.
Brightness - Adjust the screen brightness in the game.
Anti-Aliasing - Defaults to OFF. Anti-aliasing should only be used on faster
systems and video cards that support this feature.
View Distance - Adjust the distance that can be viewed in-game, resulting in
more objects being drawn. For slower systems a LOW setting is recommended.
Detail Objects - Turns off small detail objects like posters, telephones, wall
maps, etc., to increase framerate and overall speed.
Detail object view distance - Determines how much object detail is drawn in the
Fog - Turns fog/haze ON/OFF - Turning fog OFF will increase framerates on
Terrain Shadows - Turns off shadows cast by trees, building and vehicles. OFF
increases speed on slower systems.
Compressed Textures - Disable Compressed Textures if the texture looks strange
(grainy weird colors, etc). This option cannot be changed in-game.
Character Shadows - Toggle between simple or complex. Simple shadows require
less system resources than complex shadows. NOTE: complex shadows may not be
available on all systems.
