Mojang working on three new unannounced projects

Mojang CEO Carl Manneh has revealed that the Minecraft developer is working on three unannounced projects. One of the games is being worked on by Minecraft lead developer Markus "Notch" Persson, while the other two projects will be revealed in the first half of 2012.

Now that Minecraft has had a successful launch, Markus "Notch" Persson has stepped down as lead developer, handing those duties to Jens Bergensten.

"Personally, I will now rest for a while, then get back to work refreshed and eager," Persson stated in his blog, "I'll be helping out with Minecraft, of course, but also starting work on some new project."

Markus "Notch" Persson has tweeted that Minecraft has finally gone gold, which is a few days after his release date target of the 11th November.

Minecraft sales exceed 4M units

Less than two weeks before the MineCon convention, Mojang's popular sandbox creation MMO Minecraft has hit 4M paid users since creator Markus 'Notch' Persson started selling the game while in pre-release in 2009.

This was revealed by the websites statistics page, which saw over nine thousand sales in 24 hours put the game over the 4M mark. The official site has 16M total registered users.

Markus Persson, aka Notch, created indie sensation Minecraft. His studio Mojang then went to trademark the name to "protect our brand." They wanted 'Scrolls' too.

ZeniMax, parent of Bethesda, own The Elder Scrolls and weren't happy. Notch claims they "offered both to change" or drop the trademark; " Bethesda refused on both counts."
