US court order strips EDGE from "trademark troll" Tim Langdell

Many companies who use the word 'edge' can now breathe a sigh of relief as the long-running legal battles around the EDGE trademark are brought to a close. US court documents reveal the trademark is declared nulled.

This means Tim Langdell can no longer demand payment for use of the word, which landed EA's Mirror's Edge in legal strife. It's especially great news for EDGE creator Mobigame.

A developer living and working in the Swedish games industry claims it's "general knowledge" there that Battlefield creator DICE has Mirror's Edge 2 "in production" at the studio. It's in all the pub quizzes.

It was Ben Cousins who tweeted this Stockholm fact, who used to work at EA but now resides at mobile game developer ngmoco. Recently EA Games said DICE wasn't a "Battlefield factory."

Mirror's Edge is set to return. Although a much-anticipated sequel is yet to be announced, DICE will re-release the original game on September 25th in North America.

Mirror's Edge 2 has undergone quite the torturous development cycle, from being cancelled back in February 2011, which was followed by rumors of a revival of the game using the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

Now, Dual Pixels claims that an "inside source" has told them that the next Mirror's Edge game is a "showcase title" for Microsoft's Durango (aka the Xbox 720) and the next generation of Kinect sensor, using the aforementioned Frostbite 2 engine.
