File Instructions:: A Clash of Kings is a modification for the popular Taleworlds game "Mount and Blade: Warband" version 1.154.

To install the mod, simply unpack the downloadable file using a program such as Winrar and extract it into the Mount&Blade WarbandModules folder.

A Clash of Kings is based on the series of books by George R. R Martin, "A Song of Ice and Fire" and the modification is named after the second book in the series, during which time this scenario takes place. A Song of Ice and Fire has recently been adapted into a TV-series by HBO, called Game of Thrones, with the third season airing in march 2013.

The story behind the universe this modification is set in is simply too rich and detailed for me to give even a brief overview here, but I can only recommend diving into it.

What follows is a brief explanation of the new game features in A Clash of Kings:

1. The Factions

"A Clash of Kings" features eighteen unique factions, each with their own troops, distinct cultures and custom settlements, as well as a "secret" emerging faction.

2. The Map
Encompassing all of Westeros and the western part of Essos, the map for "A Clash of Kings" might well be the most detailed map ever made for a Mount and Blade: Warband modification. In future versions, the map will be replaced with an even better one, currently a work in progress. This will not happen for quite some time though.

3. The Items

"A Clash of Kings contains more than 1800 new items, all of them high quality. For pictures of a small selection of these, visit the "image" section.
The implementation of the items is a work in progress, given that ACOK is still in the beta stage. They are subject to change, but the core itemization has been implented as of 0.7, and will only be tweaked in the future.

4. The Gameplay

While keeping the core Mount and Blade gameplay, "A Clash of Kings" adds many new exciting features, such as:

Sea travel.
Naval battles.
Custom settlements for many iconic locations, such as King's Landing, Winterfell, Moat Cailin, Storm's End and Highgarden
A new skill, foraging.
Diplomacy.
New companions, all with their own unique backstory.
New terrain textures.
New scene props.
New building textures.
New music.
New user interface.
New animations.
Many new scripts.
An invading faction.
Many custom units.
A new way of recruitment.
And much more.
